This allows us to cover the basic costs: Travel costs, catering, technical equipment, accommodation for actors.
The short film "A Day in the Life of a Boy" is about a day in the life of an unusual boy in an ordinary family: Autist Daan sees the world very differently from his little sister Millie. But she becomes more and more aware of her brother's peculiarities.
The day begins normally, but when Daan accidentally kills Millie's bird, it triggers a chain reaction of feelings in the two children. Will Millie still manage to be there for her brother in the end?
Autistic people look at the world with different eyes. We want to dive into Daan's world, see through his eyes, hear with his ears.
We want to make his world visible and perceivable. Only then will it be possible to understand why autistic people often react as they do - with screams, covering their ears or avoiding eye contact - and approach them with empathy.
The film is thus aimed at children and adults alike, we want to reach as large an audience as possible.
We all benefit from a society in which everyone has the opportunity to live happily and without restrictions.
Help us to get a little closer to this ideal! We want to break up the one-sided representation of autism, meet Daan at eye level and give his perspective space. We want his story to be thought-provoking and touching. Only with your financial support will we be able to do that!
The money is mainly used for all the things you need for a film: great (children's) actors, camera equipment, catering for the hard working crew, transport costs and location rental. There is a lot that adds up!
Two film students from Darmstadt are behind "A Day in the Life of a Boy": Niklas Bauer (director and screenplay) and Marie Marxmeier (production). In addition there is the young Darmstadt production company "Fourmat Film" with its manpower - mainly cinematographer Marc Tressel-Schmitz.
The film is a matter close to our hearts and we will realize it as our most important project, namely as our graduation film.
