I’m a French-Australian musician and producer who makes music as Alex St Joan. I’ve just finished my second EP, a soaring mix of 80s-inspired pop, retro-electronica, NASA space recordings, vocoder and opera, that explores ideas of defeat, loss, recovery and forgiveness. To accompany it, I’ve created a book of peculiar fairytale-like stories, lyrics and my own artwork. Now all I need is to get it printed, pressed and released - and with this crowdfunding, you can help make this happen!

What is this project all about?
My debut EP as Alex St Joan, “Kick & Rise,“ was released May 2019 on Zellephan Records, along with an accompanying book of short stories and artwork. My second EP is now finished and will be released August/ September 2020, again with a colourful book of lyrics, art and stories. The songs explore ideas of defeat, loss, recovery and forgiveness, using 80s-inspired pop, retro electronica, space recordings from NASA, opera, vocoder, and choral arrangements to do so. The accompanying book will feature artwork and a story for each song, expanding on these themes. Your help in crowdfunding the EP will go towards the final stages of production before its release.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
With your support, I want to raise 2,500€ within 30 days to help with physical production costs.
Why would you support this project?
I am an independent artist and Zellephan is an independent label. This means that funding for Alex St Joan comes directly from physical and digital sales and is invested straight back into this project. My first EP sold out early - too early, largely because I underestimated demand. This meant that I couldn't get as many physical copies out as I'd like, but also that the revenues only just covered the costs. This time, I'm aiming higher, but that also means I need to put in a bit more up front.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The money raised will cover the 3 P’s: printing the books, pressing the CDs and then posting them out. Anything above this goal will contribute towards promotion costs for the EP release.
Who are the people behind the project?
Alex St Joan is the multi-faceted creation of musician, producer, artist and writer Alexia Peniguel. Zellephan Records is the label behind her.
