14. Anna Amalia Guitar Competition 2019

Every two years the guitar society in Weimar organizes this competition for young guitarists up to 20 years old.

The 14th Anna Amalia guitar competition is a bi-annual competition for young classical guitarists up to the age of 20 years, organized in three age groups. It exists for more than 25 years and is held for the 14th time in April 2019 and will attract more than 60 young guitarists to take part in one of the oldest international youth competitions for guitar. The event lasts 6 days and also includes concerts and exhibitions.

What is this project all about?

The main goal of this event is to give young talents great performance experiences and play in front of a wellchosen jury of acclaimed guitarists and pedagogues. Many of former competition winners already have made their names in the guitar world and are great performers now.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The competition is open to every classical guitar player up to 20 years old. They come from all over the world, most often accompanied by their parents and families, to see them perform.
This crowdfunding campaign asks everyone who likes to support the classical guitar or young talents to help us in this endeavour.

Why would you support this project?

We hope that you would like to support young guitar talents. This competition usually is an important step in their development and creates great memories and possibilities for the participants.
To organize this event not only takes a lot of effort by the guitar societies members, but also financial support, that we are seeking in a part through this campaign. We created a few different rewards as a Thank you for your support.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Your financial support will be used to finance the documentation of the event with video and audio recording to put on DVD. Additional funding beyond the first step will be used to hand out more extensive prizes and to promote the young talents even better. Also the rewards you can get will be covered by that amount.

Who are the people behind the project?

The project is organized by the Gitarreverein Weimar e.V. a guitar society that exists for 26 years and was founded to promote the classical guitar, young players and students not only in Thuringia but has gained reputation even beyond.
