What is this project all about?

„Could one imagine modern art without DADA?“, Marc Berger asks himself. Leaded by this question Marc Berger, typographer and publisher decided to make the 100th anniversary of DADA the theme of his perfecting calendar 2016 which is a joint action of printers and designers invited to participate. More than 50 graphic artists, artists, printer and fans of letterpress were enthusiastic about the theme and so the idea for this exhibition was born.

"We want to celebrate the 100th anniversary with an exhibition because the Dadaists inspire us with their sound poems, writing posters, collages, their unorthodox handling of scripture, their understanding of art. We want to send the exhibition on tour and we want to capture all exhibits in a great catalogue. But therefore we need your help!”

55 print artists from ten countries put their thoughts to “DADA yesterday, today and tomorrow” down on paper. The exhibition of their results is planned to take place in Gransee, Stralsund, Hamburg, Halle und Frauenfeld, Switzerland and Horn, Austria.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

We ask all fans of Dadaism, lovers of graphic experiments, typography enthusiasts and collectors, letterpress trailers, poetry reader and enthusiastic explorers of old world craftsmanship to support our project to ensure that we can realise this exhibition and the catalogue.

We – that are graphic artists, printers, designers, who handle old lead and wood type and who experience with old and new techniques. We all share a passion for typographic printing press - some of us print exclusively in letterpress - and we are stimulated repeatedly from DADA.

Why would you support this project?

We do our work with enthusiasm and passion and we want to make sure that this exhibition can be seen in many cities and we want to produce a catalogue in order to create a lasting memory of this unique exhibition. The exhibition will include more than 90 oevres who show that DADA these days is till a source of inspiration.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

We need the funds to realise the project and to produce a catalogue. A total of € 6.000,- are needed.

Who are the people behind the project?

The Granseer printer and publisher Marc Berger initiated the project. He takes over the design an production oft the catalogue and organizes the exhibition. Famous letterpress printer and typographic artists from ten countries participate in this project.
