THE PROBLEM
Our target group of Ukrainian single mothers who have become refugees in the EU and carry an academic and/or entrepreneurial background face numerous obstacles. These include difficulties in finding suitable educational or employment opportunities due to language barriers, lack of childcare options, and restricted remote options. These challenges often contribute to their vulnerability, financial instability, and limited prospects for economic empowerment.
THE SOLUTION
Our solution is the Re:build Ukraine Mentor & Protegee Program, which allows our target group to learn and develop remotely through one-on-one lectures with their mentor (a professional in the desired field). At times suitable for a single parent, they will learn and develop business ideas and concepts as well as improve their English skills, ideally enabling them to build their own business or develop the right and appropriate toolbox for entrepreneurial work.
THE PROGRAM
Our 6-month program matches each protege with a suitable mentor, allowing them to develop business ideas, improve English skills, and build a toolbox for entrepreneurial work. Regular online events foster a sense of community, while meeting specific goals ensures a tangible learning curve.
Ideally, this program guides our beneficiaries to develop a robust business plan and secure startup capital. If wanted, they will then have the opportunity to return to Ukraine post-war, equipped with an established business. As they hire employees and generate revenue, they will contribute to strengthening the Ukrainian economy, fostering sustainable growth, and creating a brighter future.
Goals:
1. Empowering Ukrainian single mothers who have fled to the EU and have an academic background and/or entrepreneurial experience, i.e. belong to the social elite.
2. Strengthening and changing the future of the Ukrainian economy. The people of Ukraine will become self-sufficient and create jobs. (Ukraine's GDP fell by almost 37% in the second quarter of 2022).
3. Cultural, economic and political embedding of Ukraine in "the West". Connections to the West should be strengthened to enable democratic structures (Ukraine has problems with corruption (currently a CPI of 33) and oligarchs).
Target group:
Ukrainian women with children who have become refugees in the EU without a partner and carry an academic or entrepreneurial background.
We stand out from other educational programs by offering a truly flexible and location-independent learning experience. Unlike traditional programs that require in- person attendance or fixed online schedules, our program caters to the unique needs of Ukrainian refugees commuting between Germany and Ukraine and having particular living situations.
This program will lead to strengthening and changing the future of the Ukrainian economy, as the Ukrainian people need to be self-reliant in order to create jobs and boost economic development. In turn, this will allow Ukraine to go through a process of "westernisation", leading to more democratic structures and political stability.
If the funding is successful, the money generated will be used to initiate the project. This includes costs such as those for managing the project, salaries (and levies on salaries), administration costs, costs for further fundraising, communication costs, marketing costs, costs for English lessons and others.
Behind the project is the refugee aid organisation Be an Angel e.V. from Berlin. Since 2015, Be an Angel has been successfully working for the integration of refugees in EU countries. We believe that by supporting refugees in the form of integration and empowerment, we enable them to be a valuable asset to our society and support them on their way back to independence.
Meanwhile, the association is further registered as a non-governmental organisation in Ukraine, Moldova and the USA. Since March 2022, Be an Angel has evacuated more than 18,000 people from Ukraine to the EU via Moldova and organised and distributed more than 4,500 tonnes of relief supplies, including medicines, ambulances, generators, clothes, food and medical infrastructure, to the front lines. Currently, the NGO's biggest focus is on individual evacuations of injured and sick people, as well as sustainable project innovation to provide future-oriented support to Ukraine and its people in various fields.

We have decided to extend the duration of our Startnext campaign! This extension will allow us to continue spreading awareness about our project and gather the necessary funds to make a meaningful impact. Together we can make a difference!
