Berlin Art Nouveau Book Project

Berlin is full of Art Nouveau buildings! At first glance they may be hidden, but if you look closely, you can discover them all over the city. The reason why Berlin is not considered an Art Nouveau metropolis today is mainly due to the removal of stucco: ornaments and decorations were removed from facades to make the buildings look more "modern".

Author Heike Johenning presents in more than 70 buildings in her book "Fassadendämmerung - Berlin Jugendstil". Discover all the beautiful details on more than 100 pictures of the buildings. Photos and illustrations will show all the details of the Berlin Art Nouveau architecture. You want to see them in the wild? No problem - there are routes to the best locations included. We want to bring back international recognition to the Berlin Art Nouveau style that it deserves. Berlin architecture is full of treasures - our book only features a small selection. We need your support for this!

We finance the printing of the German edition of "Fassadendämmerung. Berliner Jugendstil" - and print sustainably and climate neutral. No plastic foil, no unnecessary packaging and with full CO2 compensation. Of course, we also pay attention to the kind of paper we use and the book will be printed in the European Union.

With 2,000 euros, we can pay for a small initial print run in top quality. If it sells out, we can reprint. With 4,000 euros, Heike Johenning and the publishing house ammian Verlag will tackle an additional project: "Tiles in Art Nouveau" - published as a limited edition brochure.

If you feel very generous and we can raise more than 6,000 €, then we will translate the book into English and print it as a limited edition - all pre-orderers are of course free of shipping costs.
