What is this project all about?

A harmonious father-son relationship that has lasted for years breaks up after the pensioner Nikolai learns that his foster son Jakub has joined a radical rebel militia that wants to fight against the authoritarian regime. Jakub immerses himself in the violent world of the militia, while Nikolai becomes increasingly isolated and blames himself for Jakub's behavior. With the first battles in the country, Nikolai's concern for Jakub also increases. When Nikolai spontaneously gives shelter to a wounded regime soldier in his apartment and Jakub discovers it immediately afterwards, two enemies face each other. Only Nikolai can save the radicalized Jakub from making a mistake for life.

Medium-length feature film / ca. 45 min. / drama
*The title "Between Two Lines" is still a working title*

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Our goal is to finish the film in winter 2021 and then submit it to selected festivals.

With the film, we want to address an audience that likes suspense and drama as well as quiet, sensitive scenes and that likes to deal with current topics.

We also want to convey that violence, radicalism and extremism cannot be the solution, which will certainly make the film interesting for young adults as well.

Why would you support this project?

With our film project we want to take up a socially relevant topic. No matter where in the world radicalization and extremism play a role. We want to draw attention to the danger of radicalization and show that violence is never a solution, even if it seems to be the only means and the motivation behind it is understandable.

In "Between Two Lines (AT)" Nikolai shows his foster son Jakub how far you can get with humanity and how important it is to get to know the people you are facing. We want to work for a respectful, peaceful and open cooperation in society.

With your contribution you not only support the cinematic narration of an important and current topic, but also us as young artists.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

If the financing is successful, we can not only get more out of the film creatively, but also provide the crew, who support us free of charge with their time, their skills and above all with their passion. When shooting a film there are many costs that have to be covered. Without building material there is no set design, without fabric no costume and without fuel no trips. But also the accommodation of the actors, props, technology, sound postproduction and so on cost money. In order to furnish and design Nikolai's apartment, in which we shoot a large part of the film, there are higher expenses, especially for the equipment.

The Corona pandemic also limits our possibilities and causes costs. Not only that we would have liked to shoot a part of the film abroad, but also here in Germany the current situation makes it difficult to plan and carry out our project. Not only do we have to provide enough disinfectants and masks, but we also have to re-coordinate the processes. Some activities have to be done one after the other so that there are fewer people on the set. On the one hand, this means that the individual work steps take longer and on the other hand, we need larger rooms in order to provide enough space for everyone to stand apart.

In addition to our own contribution, we receive a subsidy from the University of Applied Sciences. But this together is unfortunately not enough to cover all costs. Therefore we are dependent on donations and sponsorships.

With your support we can make it!
Many thanks!
