In the training empowerment- and meetingspaces are created to promote the social participation of migrants and refugees.
Activation and inclusion of participants' knowledge, skills, qualifications and life experiences is particularly important in the training. BeVisible seeks to strengthen the personal development and the professional future of the participants. The project is especially addressed to women*, as they often experience multiple discrimination.
The BeVisible training includes 7 modules with a total of 100 lessons. The modules are focused around Migration and (Self-) Empowerment, Counselling, Moderation and Communication, human rights and asylum law, transcultural competence and interreligious conflicts.
At the end of the modules, the participants complete an internship with a civil society organization focused on refugee and asylum issues in such subjects as counseling or political education.
The program is aimed at migrants and refugees, who are leaders in their communities. With the knowledge of the training, they can bring their diverse personal skills and experiences into civil society and raise the awareness of those working on asylum and refugee issues. They can thus help sensitize people in the fields of migration, diversity, transcultural competence, and anti-racist and anti-discrimination work.
The BeVisible 2017 program was an enormous success. Trixiewiz would like to build upon this achievement and continue providing high-quality training to refugees and migrants who are leaders in their communities.
What makes the program very special is that refugees are also part of the program as experts and as trainers, not only as participants. Some former participants work now as trainers of the program.
BeVisible has received funding from the municipality of Pankow and from the Robert Bosch Foundation. However, Trixiewiz still needs 5000 euro to cover the increasing cost of rent and to offset the expense of printing materials and salaries for additional trainers and facilitators.
Trixiewiz e.V. is a migrant and feminist organisation committed to creating sustainable forms of solidarity in a society shaped by migration. Our organization began in 2002, when a group of women from different cultural and professional backgrounds began to meet regularly. From this came the idea of establishing an association committed to understanding different cultures and defining the points of tension within society. Trixiewiz e.V. works to create a space where open and counterhegemonic dialogue is possible and where experiences from different countries, cultures, and work contexts can be productively exchanged.
