Ich kann schwer abschätzen, wieviel Geld hier zusammen kommt, daher dient das Geld als Hilfe zur Kostendeckung der Buchproduktion.
I love books, in particular I love beautifully designed and well printed photo books.
Right now I’m working on a photo book entitled BILLARD which will be released in conjunction
with an exhibition.
I think photos are only printed or enlarged alive.
The book and the photographs are a look back on a period that was very important to me
Personally important because in this decade both of my children were born, Lisa and Manuel. Lisa was first in 1980.
As a part-time father I was part of many things which would make an every day life.
Photographed on playgrounds, in parks, at leisure activities and in kindergarten. Extensive travelling was not an issue.
So I made small trips, in clubs, bars, and hotspots, or just had encounters with
everyday life on the streets
What I was looking for were human encounter which were sometimes volatile situations.
Faces and gestures, frozen moments in everyday situations
Sometimes there was a glimpse of intimacy.
As photography is a big part in my life it wasn’t just a project
but a part of me.
Photography isn’t just a one-way street, it is both a mirror and a window at the same time.
For all people who are interested in photography and art.
For people who were socialised in the eighties and maybe recall this part of their life as a very intense experience as a member of a very specific group.
Because she/he likes photography in general. Because she/he likes my photos and the atmosphere and the zeitgeist they represent.
And maybe people like well printed photo books.
The money will be used to cover the expenses for printing.
I´m the initiator for this project. A publisher will be responsible for distribution.
The office for cultural affairs of the Municipal of Munich is a big supporter for all expenses concerning the exhibition.
