Black China - The Exhibition

BLACK CHINA ist das neue interdisziplinäre Projekt - unter künstlerischer Leitung des Münchner Designers Jérôme K. Djossou und der Produzentin Nayra Rüdinger-Wagner – welches diverse Kunstformen unter dem Konzept des kulturellen Austauschs zwischen zwei Ländern vereint. Schon bei seiner Abschlusskollektion hatte Jérôme K. Djossou die Idee aufgegriffen, interkulturelle Gemeinsamkeiten der togolesischen (Djossou’s Herkunftsland) und der chinesischen Tradition in einer Modelinie zum Ausdruck zu bringen, die er Black China nannte. CCW nimmt diese Modelinie auf und erweitert das Projekt mit weiteren Kunstformen, wie Fotografie, Musik, Film uvm. Geplant ist eine sich jährlich wiederholende Reihe von Projekten , die mit Black China in diesem Jahr eröffnet wird. Jede Ausgabe soll dadurch neue, interkulturelle Zusammenkünfte verschiedener Länder zum Schwerpunkt haben.

Under the artistic direction of Munich-based designer Jérôme K. Djossou and the production of Nayra Wagner, BLACK CHINA is a new interdisciplinary project that unites diverse art forms under the concept of cultural exchange.Already in his final collection, Jérôme K. Djossou had taken up the idea of expressing intercultural similarities of Togolese (Djossou's country of origin) and Chinese traditions in a fashion line he called Black China. CCW takes this fashion line and expands the project with other art forms, such as photography, music, film, and more. The plan is to create an annual series of projects that will open this year with Black China. Each issue will focus on new intercultural gatherings of different countries.

Wir wollen zum Nachdenken anregen. Wie entwickeln sich Kulturen im Licht der Globalisierung, welche Verflechtungen finden statt und wie entstehen daraus neue, dritte Ausdrucksformen? Djossou’s Ziel ist es, in erster Linie die Frage nach Identität neu aufzuwerfen und künstlerisch zu re-definieren, so dass vorwiegend Verständnis und Offenheit für bis dahin unbekannte Kultur(en) gefördert werden soll.
Zielgruppe gibt es keine. Das Projekt wird sowohl erfahrene Kunstbegeisterte, wie auch Kunsteinsteiger abholen können. Der Fokus liegt auf dem Dazwischen. CrossCulture.World ist als intergenerationelle, interkulturelle und interdisziplinäre Brücke zu verstehen.
Dies geschieht im Übrigen auch hinter den Kulissen, wo das breite Team an Mitwirkenden die drei eben genannten Kategorien verkörpert und individuelle Identitäten und Erfahrungen ins kollektive Projekt miteinfließen lässt.

We want to encourage reflection. How do cultures develop in the light of globalization, which interconnections take place and how do new, third forms of expression arise from this? Djossou's goal is primarily to raise the question of identity anew and to redefine it artistically, so that primarily understanding and openness to previously unknown culture(s) should be promoted.
There is no target group. The project will be able to pick up experienced art enthusiasts as well as art beginners. The focus is on the in-between. CrossCulture.World is to be understood as an intergenerational, intercultural and interdisciplinary bridge.
This also happens behind the scenes, where the broad team of contributors embodies the three categories just mentioned and allows individual identities and experiences to flow into the collective project.

Black China ermöglicht Begegnung durch Innovation. Künstlerisch durchdacht, wollen wir alle Sinne ansprechen, um die intrinsische Neugierde des Publikums auf neue Ideen und Kombinationen auf mehreren Ebenen zu erwecken. Hierfür werden konventionell-analoge, sowie neue digitale Ressourcen und Möglichkeiten ausgeschöpft, um Begegnung zu ermöglichen.
Das Team von CrossCulture.World lebt den Respekt zwischen den Kulturen und möchte über seine Projekte, dieses Miteinander, auf kultureller und menschlicher Ebene nach draußen tragen und zeigen.

Black China enables connection through innovation. Artistically thoughtful, we aim to engage all senses to awaken the audience's intrinsic curiosity for new ideas and combinations on multiple levels. Using both conventional-analog as well as new digital resources, a space that fosters connections and possibilities is created.
The team of CrossCulture.World lives the respect between cultures and wants to show this togetherness on a cultural and human level through its projects.

Bei erfolgreicher Finanzierung, wird dies in erster Linie einer fairen und angemessenen Entlohnung aller Mitwirkenden zugutekommen. Künstlerinnen und Kulturschaffende erholen sich erstmals nach einer langen und finanziell schwierigen Zeit. Um so größer ist dafür der Appetit nach neuem Schaffen. Unter dem Credo „einfach Kunst machen lassen“, wollen Djoussou und Wagner alle Beteiligten maximal fördern.
Die derzeitige Planungsarbeit konzentriert sich zum einen konkret auf Black China, zum anderen aber auch auf die großen Linien: In den kommenden Jahren will CrossCulture.World den Namen und das Konzept hierzulande und international in und außerhalb der Kunstszene etablieren. “Unser Traum ist es, alle auf eine wandernde Ausstellungstour durch mehrere Städte europaweit mitzunehmen.”

With successful funding, this project will primarily focus on fairly and reasonably compensating all contributors. Artists and cultural contributors are, for the first time in a long time, just beginning to recover from a difficult financial period. The desire for new creative work is ever present and with the motto "just let art be made" Djoussou and Wagner want to provide maximum support for all participants and allow further compensated artistic expression.
The current planning work is focused on Black China in concrete terms on the one hand, but also on the broad lines on the other: In the coming years, CrossCulture.World wants to establish the name and the concept in this country and internationally, both in and outside the art scene. "Our dream is to take everyone on a traveling exhibition tour through several cities across Europe."
