With our 1st funding goal we would like to cover the pure printing costs for the first 1500 German and the first 500 English copies.
A children's book on a mindful coexistence between humans and other animals and on sustainability is still difficult to find for the children from the age of three. From our own experience, however, we know that even small children are able to empathize with this topic if the way it is prepared is adapted to their age.
With 'Carli and the Sanctuary' we would like to show the children the different aspects of the livestock industry and its effects (ethical, health related and ecological) in a simple writing style. As children at this age are in most cases very accessible to emotions and comparisons with their own feelings, it is usually enough to explain and illustrate, for example, that the animals are sad, in pain or missing their mothers. We clearly focus positively on Carli's visit at the sanctuary - on the change towards a mindful coexistence between humans and other animals. In this way we would like to promote the empathy of the children and lay a foundation stone for a respectful treatment of all living beings.
Our children are the future and the hope for this planet and all its inhabitants. We owe it to them to be honest - from the beginning. And this also with regard to supposedly difficult topics. Because of their innocence, but also because of their future. And for their friends, the animals.
It is our goal to reach as many children, families and other interested people as possible with 'Carli and the Sanctuary' and thus to carry on the thought of a respectful coexistence between humans and other animals as well as a view of a more peaceful world. Therefore we would like to publish Carli's story in German as well as in English.
‚Carli and the Sanctuary' is a kind of non-fiction book for toddlers, which is supposed to enlighten about the background of the livestock industry and its effects - packed into a positive sanctuary story, and brought to life with loving illustrations.
Another special feature of our story is the double reference to reality. Not only does the given information show the truth behind the livestock industry and its effects (ethical, health related, ecological) according to the young age, much more can all animals from our story also be visited in real life by the readers. For each animal in our book we have chosen a real animal as a representative, which can be found in existing sanctuaries in Germany. In this way, we hope to additionally increase the awareness of these wonderful sanctuaries.
But that's not all!
In addition, we would like to support the seven sanctuaries, which are represented by the different animals in our story, with our book as a charity project and will donate 5% of the proceeds to these sanctuaries.
And because we really care about every living being and our planet, 'Carli and the Sanctuary' and Carli's little gimmicks will be consistently vegan, fair, sustainable, socially and ecologically produced.
The GrünerSinn-Verlag is a small, owner-managed publishing house that has so far built everything from its own resources. We have built up a vegan and fair company, which stands for a change of consciousness. Our environment is important to us and we think that all living beings deserve a life worth living. Since we want to remain independent in the future, we need your support for this heart project. This project is a charity project, which is not about profit, but about spreading love and compassion. We hope to cover the costs with this crowdfunding in order to reach as many people as possible with our message.

„A little more than 3 years ago, my daughter asked me for the first time why we eat differently from so many other people. At that time she was 2.5 years old and I gave her an answer that was appropriate to her age, but absolutely honest, which my little girl immediately understood with her head and heart. I would have loved to see books on this subject together with her. But all children's books, which were about veganism at that time, were in my opinion more suitable for older children. But my daughter showed me that even small children are already able to empathize with this topic, if the way it is prepared is adapted to their age. And so I simply began to write a story myself. With the devoted support of Miriam Altmann and the GrünerSinn-Verlag, a wonderful charity project is to emerge from this."

"When Sophie's and my path crossed, a dream of my life and my heart's desire came true for me on many levels with 'Carli and the Sanctuary '. The close cooperation with Sophie and the GrünerSinn-Verlag on this wonderful project has made us all friends and grow together".

“When Sophie told me about her idea of publishing a children's book, I was immediately thrilled. At the moment, many normal children's books deal with a beautiful world of healing, showing chickens on a green meadow, depicting dairy cows in a way that simply suggests to children a world in which we don't actually live. We believe that it is important to be honest with children and with 'Carli and the Sanctuary' we would like to contribute to this.“
