Gretchen actually stands for an ambitious and divers music program beyond mainstream. Due to Corona Gretchen might collapse.

Gretchen stands for a diverse music program far beyond mainstream. With concerts and club nights from electronica, bass, drum'n'bass to experimental, avantgarde to hip hop, funk, afrobeats, jazz and world, we overcome genre boundaries and open our own horizons as well as those of our guests. As an operator duo, we have been wholeheartedly club operators for over 20 years. We already lost our club Icon due to gentrification. Now we are at risk of losing our Gretchen because of Corona.

What is this project all about?

The official closure of Gretchen due to the spread of the corona virus has brought us into financial difficulties. We cannot generate any income without holding club nights and concerts, but we still have to pay running costs such as rent, insurance or staff. We have always put every available Euro into our program - and therefore we don't have any financial reserves.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

We will do everything we can to survive this crisis, but unfortunately we cannot do it on our own. We therefore ask for help from all Gretchen friends and music lovers around the world.

Why would you support this project?

We live our lifes to be able to present wonderful artists and many different music genres. If you still want to enjoy our great program in the future, you can help us and be a rescuer.
The German word for "rescuer" in a so to say correct gendered way is "Retter*in". You will find this word on some shirts and the gym-bag...

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

We need your help to cover our running costs. This is the only way we can financially survive the closure until the reopening again.
