The shirts are coming! We also can support first relief projects and go on working on establishing hemp in the market for merch and promo textiles.
We love metal and punk - and together with you we want to storm the merch market with cannabis!
This age-old plant provides extremely robust fibres for very comfortable clothing. In contrast to cotton, hemp needs no pesticides, and it needs a lot less water and land. Organic cotton is chemical-free, but no solution to the water problem and even needs a lot more land. We want to establish hemp as an alternative instead. Still way too few people know the great feeling of hemp on their skin - together with you, we want to change that!
To us, fair and ecological production are no feature, but a must. Our fabric is made by the eco-fair hemp fashion company Hemp Fortex in China, the shirts are sewn at the workers cooperative Humana Nova in Croatia, and the eco-friendly printing takes place in Germany. Here you can learn more about the conditions under which our shirts are produced.
Hemp is still more expensive than cotton. Thus, virtually all available hemp textiles still have 45% certified organic cotton in them - our shirts are no exception. With your help, we want to change that as soon as possible.
A part of our profits will go into projects that help victims of cotton cultivation. We will support "Doctors Without Borders" in Uzbekistan. The Aral Sea has dried up due to excessive cotton irrigation, which caused a rampant health crisis in the region. Doctors Without Borders are helping here.
Also, we want to invest in the development of new production technology, so that in the future, we can offer pure hemp shirts that are affordable. Some day maybe even from regional sourcing.
Our starting point is metal and hemp merch - and not only for men. All our designs are available as girlies, most also as tank tops for women. Without any pink tax, special "female" motives or nonsense like that!
But our offer is for all people, companies and organizations - we want to place our hemp shirts also in the broader market for promotional textiles.
With your help, we want to make hemp a serious competition to cotton, so that less people have to suffer from the effects of agricultural chemicals and from limited access to clean water.
You want a hemp shirt from your favourite band? You need shirts for your company or NGO? Or you'd just like to help a company get on its feet that brings the fight for people-friendly and ecological production of clothes to a new level? With your support we can start to change the merch market and make hemp textiles more popular.
If we reach the first funding threshold, we will place our first order for fabric at Hemp Fortex and have it made into shirts in Croatia. We'll set up a webshop and start building long-term relationships with bands to establish a permanent offer. Moreover, we'll begin to support "Doctors Without Borders" with their projects in Usbekistan, where this NGO organizes medical help for the people in the Aral Sea region. The Aral Sea has dried up due to excessive cotton irrigation, which caused a rampant health crisis.
If we reach the second funding threshold, not only can we do all this a lot faster. We will also start to support research and development with partners from our network to improve the production technology and make hemp textiles more affordable. And, of course, we also want to start decreasing the footprint of our own product.
Thomas is a metalhead, and some time ago he was standing in front of a merch stall on a festival. He had just bought his first hemp jeans and liked the material. Then the idea popped up: Wouldn't it be really cool if all those shirts were made of hemp?
Stefan loves punk since he was 14. Today, he is head of a social media department. When he learned about the idea, he was immediately in and now takes care of our Facebook and Instagram, and he's responsible for our videos.
Of course, you don't realise such a project alone or as two people. Ina, Saeed and Julian support us at our promo stalls and help us make Cottonkillers more known among you guys! Also, many friends and colleagues helped us with advice and feedback in the past months.
Our special thanks goes to the bands that - without knowing exactly what they are getting into - support us with design licenses and whose shirts you can get here as a reward for your support.

Dear crowd,
in the past two weeks, we have got a lot of feedback at our promo stalls on festivals and fairs. Many women - though not all - told us that in their opinion our women's shirts/girlies tend to be a bit large for their sizes. So it might be a good idea to order your women's shirts/girlies one size smaller!
If you have already backed us, that's no problem! If our funding is successful, we will send all who have backed us so far an email to clear things up.
Your Cottonkillers
Liebe Crowd,
Eure Cottonkillers
