Intermediate states, intermediate worlds and intermediate nuances have always inspired artists, in self-analysis, in the analysis of the times, in dealing with love and death. In this vein, Johannes Brahms leads us in his Abenddämmerung (Twilight of the evening) to a sensual experience that reaches far beyond temporality. By the same token, we meet death as a gentle transition in Respighi’s La fine, whereas Korngold celebrates the timeless moment in Unvergänglichkeit (Immortality).
As an Italo-German singer and Persian-German pianist – ourselves biographically between worlds – it is our desire to combine rarely, in some cases even un-recorded lieder by Italian composers of the last century (Respighi, Pizzetti, Zandonai) with German lieder and musical renderings of Persian poetry. A scholarship or any other kind of funding and support would enable us to realise the recording and publication of our programme as a CD or on streaming services.
This programme addresses people who like music, art, philosophy and literature; it will resonate with everybody who enjoys cultural exchange and wants to go beyond the mainstream, discovering new repertoire in the Lied genre.
