Lux and his friends Paul and Maus live together in a spacious industrial loft which also serves as an art studio. After years of hard work and no success in sight Paul decides to leave the loft and give up his lifetime dream of becoming a famous artist. Lux and Maus cannot maintain the loft on their own and Lux sees himself heading towards financial ruin.
When a mutual friend of all three, who is an artist himself, invites them to a private viewing they are overwhelmed by his talent and success. One piece of art in particular seems to have caught Lux’s attention.
From this point on, Lux begins to change. After putting up a curtain as a divider from one side of the loft to the other he disappears behind it and starts working on something in secret.
Gradually, more strange things start happening and Paul begins to worry about the state his friend is in. The closer he gets to revealing Lux’s secret the more sinister the situation behind the curtain appears.
Reality and dream begin to blur.
Whether it’s painting, making movies, or any other kind of artistic work, one question always arises: How far are you willing to go?
The movie portraits a disheveled, grimy techno drug scene which is found in most major cities around the world in the present time.
In other words: This is psychological theater with surreal horror elements amidst fluorescent neon lights.
We believe that filmmaking can only be done in a team. Big projects can only be realized when all members or participants work together in unity and support one another. For this reason, the principles of crowdfunding match our own principles at DEFORM and ultimately this is why we chose this type of funding. It enables each one of us to invest in the future and in this particular case the future of German cinematography.
What we would like are redefined, modern forms of film, authenticity that concur with the principles and ideas we stand for. As a team, we act autonomously, and therefore non-reactive to the norms and guidelines of the industry as such. We do this in order to achieve the goal we have set for ourselves.
We are making this movie for everyone who is open minded enough and enjoys new types of movies in the horror and “genre-movie” scapes and for everyone who hopes for a new spark in the German film scene!
We think that there are a not enough horror movies on the german market - that’s what we wanna change.
Therefore our first step is the shortfilm-project DEFORM.
Feel free to check out our self-funded teaser, which we already shot in september and get a first impression about the look we are seeking for. We are sure, that the movie is going to be thrilling and worth to see!
As we are all students, we are used to realizing low-budget projects, for which we need to invest a lot of time. But this project doesn’t work with only the production team on its own. We are dependant on many voluntary team members and actors who help us to make our project happen. That’s why we wish to offer them a first class set and everything that goes with it.
Whether it should be:
- better equipment, which would save us a lot of extra-work
- a location in Berlin, which would spare us a lot of time
- professional costumes, make-up and scenography, which would turn the movie into a real experience
or just a Club Mate and Pizza on the side.
We are very open and thankful for any kind of sponsorings such as: equipment, location, catering, and anything else that you are willing to spare.
We are a team of young women who all share the same passion and strive to achieve the same goal.
