The first Funding goal will cover the initial costs for the filter and the construction around it.
Another case of development aid in a foreign country without long-term perspective?
No ! Drinking Water is a sustainable solution which will remain helpful in a longterm perspective. This will be the only time where funding is needed in our project. After your initial investment, the project will finance all improvements and expansions by itself. Meaning if you donate today you will give the people in Mandapur unlimited access to drinking water in the longterm perspective.
But let’s start at the beginning
The lack of drinking water exists not only in Mandapur but all over India, more than 21 million suffer under the great precipitations of Monsun. Wide parts of the country are flooded by the monsoon and local water sources are polluted and become poisonous. Especially poor people lose their access to affordable water and are forced to drink out of unsafe water sources. Meanwhile, the market price for Water is continuously rising and fewer people can afford to buy water in stores. A majority of the Indian population has no choice but to drink the polluted water. Diseases through bacteria and contamination of the water are usual consequences and chemical pollution hurts the human health system even longterm, not to mention are the consequences for children who are still undergoing essential development phases.
How do we help?
Our plan is to install a water filtration system in the schoolyard of primary school Sarita Vihar. The filter we are going to use is the so-called Skyhydrant, an ultrafiltration system that is able to clear up to 20.000 litres of polluted soil water per day. While the students of Sarita Vihar primary school will be supplied for free we will charge all other citizens a minimal price of 4 rupees (approximately 5 cents) per 20 litres. The money we charge for the water will provide the income for a local worker who will be educated on how to take care of the filtrations system and the money will go to savings for the replacement of the filter membrane (replacement is needed after 5-10 years). Additionally, we will be able to finance an additional Skyhydrant Filter after another 3 years in order to clean an even bigger amount of water in the long term. Meaning that through the charge the project will expand over the years and give more and more people access to water.
Our goal is to provide the people of Sarita Vihar with affordable and clear water, which means that we want to improve their life quality and their health. In order to realize our project, we need to finance the initial investment for a water filtration system called Skyhydrant and the construction around the filter consisting of 2 tanks, a steel construction, an electrical pump and a water kiosk. According to our business model, we will be able to expand the project to clean the double amount of water after only 3 years.
In a nutshell, we will give an unemployed person a job with a regular income, we will provide 500 school children with free drinking water and we will massively shrink the infection rate in whole Mandanpur Khatar.
You could be part of a humanitarian aid project that provides sustainable help and empowers 100s of families through better health.
Investing in this project means that you provide the people in Sarita Vihar with a better health level and that you will be the fundament for many more Filtration systems in the future.
You could push the world one step closer to equality. Every child should have the same hygienic conditions in their school and should have access to water which does not make you sick.
Access to water is a human right and it is important to value and to cherish that drinking water was nothing we ever had to worry about in our childhood and how great would it be to take that weight off from people’s shoulders. Let’s start in Sarita Vihar.
The money will buy our first Skyhydrant Filter produced by the Skyjuice Foundation and will be used to build the construction around the filter(pumps, tanks, steel, water kiosk) in collaboration with the local community.
Additionally, it will help to organize informative events to educate the population on the dangers of unclean water and the consequences of drinking it.
We are 10 students who are engaged in the global university group “Enactus”, which has made it its goal to change the world through Social Entrepreneurship. Find out more about the organization on http://enactus.org/ .
The project was initiated by the group of Enactus Bayreuth in late 2016 when in 2017 a partnership with our honoured friends in Delhi started and Enactus NSiT became a big part of the project. Since the start of our collaboration, both teams have worked closely together. The team in Delhi found the perfect location for our project and is in close contact with the citizens of Sarita Vihar while the German team brings together all organisations, does the Funding and works its head around the construction.
Enactus Bayreuth has also received incredible technical support by “technique without borders” and is supported by the german “Siemens Stiftung” which provides expertise in all fields of humanitarian aid. Followed by of our partners is the Skyjuice Foundation which constructs our filtration system and delivers it to Delhi in case of our success.
Last but not least ……. You ! Be the force behind this project and support us ????
