We are artists and graduates of the HfbK Dresden who have worked intensively with traditional printmaking and paper craft during our studies and beyond. Last year we founded erlenwerk. A workshop for printmaking and paper craft.
In various course formats, we pass on our knowledge of different techniques to children, young people and adults and create a space for artistic work and experimentation.
We want to explore the question of what artistic printmaking and paper craft mean today and thus also create an awareness of resources and sustainability.
The erlenwerk is a place of community. Working in a workshop is always a communicative togetherness, which is also what we seek and desire.
Over the past year, we have already experienced the space in many different ways and we want more of it. More exhibitions, more concerts, more workshops!
We invite everyone to stay at erlenwerk and become part of the art venue.
The erlenwerk workshop in Dresden is an art centre where old craftsmanship is lived and taught. Art is created here and shown here.
The aim of the crowdfunding is to further furnish and revitalise the erlenwerk with the small workshop bar.
The target group is all people who are interested in art and artistic processes and who are keen to get involved themselves.
The workshop preserves old crafts and thus tells a piece of human history.
Many people lack a place where they can continuously work on their own art. For people who live in Dresden, a new space has been created in the last year where they can experience and exchange art in their everyday lives.
People who do not live in Dresden can also participate in the workshop on a regular basis: There are already events that don't take place directly at erlenwerk, but for which we come to you. Feel free to invite us and we can plan your next event together! This way you can become part of the erlenwerk even if you don't live in Dresden.
We also plan festivals, holiday programmes, residencies, international symposia... which of course takes time, patience and a bit of money.
We can also be found online at www.erlenwerk.de and www.instagram.com/erlenwerk/ and report on our artistic work and everything else that happens at erlenwerk in quarterly newsletters. (If you support us, you are part of our crowd and you will automatically receive the next newsletter by email).
In the future, we are also planning an online shop that can take our art anywhere.
So there's a lot to discover and experience at erlenwerk.
And it could become a space for you!
But for now, we look forward to your support!
It would be simply brilliant if you could support us, because then we would have the means to continue building the workshop, plan projects and work there with you, for example.
We are also still missing some machines that we can then acquire.
We need a pallet truck for the lithography workshop so that we can move the stones and not drag ourselves around.
For the paper workshop we still need a Dutch beater (which can grind fibrous materials into a pulp) and a paper press.
We also need a dishwasher and various kitchen appliances for the bar.
In addition, our small art library, which contains artists' monographs and books on paper craft and printmaking, is to be expanded. If there are people who have art books and similar items to give away, we would be delighted to hear from you!
We are 3 artists, Ana, Sarah and Käthe, who work on and in the workshop.
Ana Pireva, born 1995 in Shumen | Bulgaria, studied from 2015-2021 at the HfBK Dresden with Prof Ralf Kerbach.
