What is this project all about?

A Story About Womenhood

Narrated by a female voice the film follows Esther's journey from childhood to young adulthood, starting at the age of 8. We witness a crucial moment where she faces the reality of being treated differently because she's a girl. At that age, she can't fully grasp the significance of what she's experiencing, but as she grows older, the film brings us back and those moments start to make sense.

We journey with Esther through various stages of her life, experiencing both the profound and mundane events that shape her understanding of early womanhood.

Some moments leave a lasting impact, almost traumatically so, while others are just part of everyday life for women. It's when we see all these moments strung together that we realize the absurdity of it all that women are expected to navigate these challenges just for being themselves. This film aims to shine a light on the collective weight of these experiences and the resilience it takes to „just“ carry on.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

In creating this project, I draw a lot from my own personal experience and that of the women around me. With this approach, I aim to create an authentic portrayal of the everyday lives of many young women. I want to create a space of trust and empathy where you can feel understood and engaged, while shedding light on the complexities of womanhood.

I hope to foster a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences of women and create a platform for dialogue and connection. I’m sure that by sharing our stories with honesty and vulnerability, we can inspire not just empathy, but change.

Why would you support this project?

Esther’s everyday experiences as a young woman serve as a microcosm of the challenges many women face. These experiences are not isolated incidents, but rather the beginning of a broader narrative that extends to the statistics we see today and have been seeing for quite some time.

By understanding Esther's story, we can begin to bridge the gap between individual experiences and the larger societal issues that affect us all. It's a reminder that the struggles depicted in these statistics are not distant or abstract. Sometimes, we've become so accustomed to these challenges that even as women ourselves, we must pause and reflect to understand that they shouldn't be considered normal.

Your support will contribute to a larger conversation.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The funds will primarily be used to cover a portion of production costs, including location fees and post-production expenses. Additionally, we will invest in marketing and distribution to ensure that the film reaches a wide audience. Your support will help bring our vision to life and share our story with the world.

No matter how cheesy it sounds, every distribution no matter how big or small helps us bring this project to life.

Who are the people behind the project?

I'm Madita Strunk, the writer and director of this film. As an aspiring directing student, this project serves as part of my application for film school. The story is incredibly close to my heart and your distribution to bringing it to life is more than appreciated.

Thank you for your support!
