Production and material costs of costumes, sets and props, rental costs of rehearsal venues and transport vehicles, publicity work and technical equipment
The story tells the tale of Frederik, a young and inexperienced bat, who gets stuck on a cargo ship during a game of hide-and-seek and ends up travelling with the ship around the world, where he not only encounters many unfamiliar new lands, but also confronts his own fears and homesickness. The melodies of his homeland never leave him though, and they provide a strong connection to his family and friends that bridges the physical distance between them.
The story, written by Elisabeth, demonstrates the true power of music: the power to connect us, to accompany us, to carry us, and, ultimately, to move us. Enchanted by the vivid story, Yun Qi came on board and the idea of an illustrated children´s book with accompanying audio/music was born. We now want to bring this project to life with interactive staging, adding a third dimension to Frederik’s story.
With music from Fynn Müller, Ottorino Respighi, Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Pierre Sancan, Joao Gilberto, George Gershwin, Max Reger und our own improvisations.
Premiere: 26th May 2024, 16:00 at KinderTheaterHaus Hannover
2nd public performance: 15th June 2024, 11:30 at Bürgerhaus Misburg
The story is especially meaningful for children on the cusp of adolescence. We hope to offer a positive, heartening impulse that emboldens them to try something unusual and out of the ordinary during what is often a turbulent time (for youths and their parents alike). We want to support the coming of age and touch young people emotionally – and we of course hope the story is also entertaining.
The story we are telling is completely new, just as some of the music performed was composed especially for Frederik. As artists, we want to experiment with new ways of expressing ourselves on stage, not only musically, but also through acting and staging.
Support us in our quest to breathe life into a top notch theatre work.
Support us, so that even in this world of media excess, children are able to experience the
magic of live theatre, a world full of enchantment and fantasy.
Production and material costs of stage props and costumes, rental of appropriate rehearsal venues as well as our performance venue for the premiere, rental of transport vehicle, technical equipment as well as publicity costs so that our performances can reach out to as many people as possible.
