This will finance our next project journey and enables us to do all the testings we need befor the kickoff.
Project glassic. is an initiative that targets the plastic pollution problem our planet faces by implementing a reusable glass bottle system, thereby reducing the dependency on plastic water bottles imported from the mainland. This initiative starts on the island of Koh Kood, Thailand where we are working together with resorts and restaurants. The widespread use of plastic bottles coupled with the lack of a robust recycling facility leads to high levels of pollution on the island, thus making Koh Kood suitable island on which to launch the initiative.
The goal of this project is to develop and implement a reusable glass bottle system that can be used by resorts and restaurants on the island of Koh Kood, Thailand. Apart from reducing plastic use by implementing a glass bottle-based system, the glassic. project will also source the water directly from the island itself. By doing so, the project aims to reduce transportation and emission costs associated with the plastic bottles while increasing job opportunities for locals on the island. Overall, team glassic. plans to prevent the circulation of 600,000 plastic bottles on the island over a period of one year.
The ultimate goal of the glassic. project is to expand to other islands in Southeast Asia. Therefore, we will partner up with local companies and entities to help make the glassic. vision a reality. Our local parner on the island of Koh Kood is Koh Kood Water.
The earth is an interconnected system. We all thrive when the earth thrives. The plastic pollution problem is not unique to Southeast Asia – it affects every being on the planet. In just a few years, it is expected that the amount of plastic in the ocean will equal the amount of fish. And the glassic. project believes that the first step to fighting the plastic pollution problem is by tackling its root cause: replacing the use of plastic with sustainable alternatives – in this case, glass bottles. By supporting the glassic. project, you can help shape a sustainable future.
Successful funding of this project would allow onsite visits by glassic. team members to help move the project forward by working with local partners. We would invest the money in a filtration machine that will allow us to fill the bottles with locally sourced water, a facility, bottles, and a delivery measure.
The profits from the project would then be used to scale to other islands and countries in Southeast Asia.
We are a team of eight dedicated students looking to make the glassic. project a reality. We come from diverse backgrounds such as sustainable resource management, business administration, and sustainable development!
But of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our mother organization, Enactus Germany, as well as our external partners and supporters including Barkawi Consulting, Soneva, Klüber Lubrications, and Koh Kood Waters.
