This goal enables Andrea to fund the book's production from May to December 2020, including the development, design, marketing, and printing costs.
" Over 70 seasonal recipes and ideas to bring ease and awareness into your kitchen and onto your table."
I want to remind people of the importance of cooking not only for what your body needs or craves, but also gives us a simple structure for working with local and seasonal ingredients, producing less waste, taking time for self-care, and reminding people why it is so important to bring friends together at the dinner table.
I believe in eating a well balanced diet, which is mainly plant based, but realize that every body, and every person has different needs and options depending on their lifestyle. The recipes included in this book will not all be vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or dairy free. But will be labeled as such when applicable. The recipes in this book are a collection of family generation dishes, simple dinner staples and some of my own creations inspired from different cultures.
Whether it be in the garden, in the kitchen, or as a photographer, I am so excited to see all my work pay off in a project such as this.
The book will be written in my mother tongue, Canadian English.
Grow to Gather's goal is to inspire and educate those who feel overwhelmed or confused with how they currently fuel their bodies. It is meant as a simple, yet beautiful, guide for those looking to live more sustainably and in-tune with their environment, from season to season.
Grow to Gather is a book that can be used in your kitchen for a quick recipe reference, or on your coffee table to flip through for inspiration. I took a big risk when I decided to put this project into reality because I feel that I have much to share about the environment, food, and sustainability.
Without your support, I cannot move forward in making my dream a reality. This book is a huge passion of mine, one that I have already put a lot of hard work and thought into. As a freelance photographer, I do not personally have the funding needed to complete this project.
Why a cookbook you ask? Isn't the market already full of these?
Yes, there are a lot of cookbooks out there already. My aim with this one is to help educate each reader about the importance of listening to their bodies’ needs within each growing season. It will serve as a guide and inspiration to provide everyday ideas to fuel your body and improve your cooking skills and maybe your overall health.
I believe that not everything in this world should be digital and am really excited to put my hard work on paper. This hardcover colour book ( circa 21cm x 28cm ) will be printed by a local printer on a beautiful matte, recycled paper with natural inks.
I also understand that not everyone needs or wants another cookbook on their shelves. That is why I have chosen to offer different types of rewards for anyone who chooses to support me or the project.
With your support, I can take the time to develop, write, cook, and photograph each one of the 70+ recipes included in this book. This all takes time, energy, and hard work. For the 5th growing season in Munich, I will tend to a 30 square meter vegetable garden from May to November 2020. Using these vegetables, as well as other products from local markets and shops, I will create the recipes in this book.
The money raised through this crowdfunding project will go directly toward paying for the first hardcover print version of this book from a local printer on a recycled matte, high-quality paper. The money earned will also be used to pay for the layout and design of the book, editing, marketing, as well as the shipping costs to all of you wishing to receive the finished product.
