Our work consists of delivering parcels and shipments of all kind’s emission-free throughout Vienna. Of course, we need bikes for this, but not only that! Motivation, commitment, fun while cycling, helmets, messenger bags and SHIRTS are also important!
Jerseys protect us from wind, weather and cold. This protection makes driving much more comfortable. Being visible on the streets in uniform jerseys is also important for the visibility of our work and the collective. They also help to signal that we not only have fun cycling through the city, but above all - work!
We have been saving the city of Vienna from emissions and traffic jams for 30 years. As its our 30th anniversary, we want to celebrate. We have had our old Jerseys for a very long time, we have worn them all four seasons for many years. As part of our celebration, we would like to present ourselves with a new set of work clothes.
Everyone who knows and appreciates our work is invited to support us - as well as everyone else who doesn't know us yet!
So that we also have something to wear in the next 30 years, through all kinds of intense weather conditions. Jerseys are unfortunately incredibly expensive and - well, our job is pretty cool but also pretty underpaid - that's why we need your support! As a thank you, there are Hermes support shirts and patches in various designs.
If the financing of our campaign is successful, we will order new jerseys for the whole gang of little rascals in short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions. The basic amount needed therefore is 4.000€, with that we can finance the basic set of shirts for the 20 Hermits out there, plus the future generation.
The more money that comes in, the more jerseys per person we can afford. And if our expectations are exceeded, we also afford windbreakers or rain jackets!
In 1992, some Viennese bicycle messengers came together to realize the common dream of a collectively organized working environment. 30 years and hundreds of thousands of kilometers later, we are still the only messenger collective in Vienna and the oldest messenger collective in Europe. Decisions and responsibilities are taken jointly, and all tasks are distributed amongst one another. With this form of organization we try to counteract the competitive society and the hierarchical organizational structure in conventional companies.
Tasks are shared in a communal form: from office work to driving shifts to cleaning service - and of course everyone gets the same salary.
Our proportion of men, at most 50%, is unique in the industry.
