Crowdfunding since 2010
Every year a new group of Berlin-based people from different countries are coming together to create a devised theatre performance. This campaign will fund our 2015 production running June 19-21. This year 20 theatre enthusiasts from 11 countries & 5 continents are putting on a very personal performance that relates to every one of us. Enjoy the 'making of' last year's show! Now it's time to start fundraising for 2015! Watch this space: http://international-theatre-berlin.tumblr.com/

What is this project all about?

IPTB connects people through the fluidity of art and creates original theatre pieces based on the participants’ life experiences, individually and as a group. Playful and fruitful methods like devised theatre, improvisation, applied theatre and creative writing are tools used for the creation of a piece which aims to speak everyone’s mind.
IPTB 2015 inclines towards the social side of modern living, celebrating diversity and multiculturalism and dealing with issues of great social impact such as religion, sexuality, gender and money.
Our world pushes us to push ourselves to assert ourselves as individuals- our group wants to reclaim a sense of community and create a show based on sharing and collectivity. How often in the rush of modern life can we honestly say that we are allowed or encouraged to take a step back and see our world differently, see ourselves within it and ask those questions that are always under the surface?

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The project has multiple goals. It trains artistic skills in its members, as performing art is known to be one of the more cutting edge methods of personality development and enhancement.

It further aims to create an interesting and entertaining performance, which will mirror today’s society, as the performers are themselves an archetype of the normal individual. But since normality is becoming a figure of speech, the project aims to highlight the unicity in people as well as to lower stereotypes and prejudice about how one should be and what one should do.

Over a period of 5 years now the project has established itself as a meeting point for young and older theatre enthusiasts with more or less stage experience – but with a sense of stage presence and an openness for artistic collaborative creation and community.

We feel very strongly about creating a place where everyone can express their creative strengths, gifts and talents and combine them to a communal project.

Why would you support this project?

Because you are supporting international cultural participation beyond any borders.

Because we are creating a prototype of the future urban community. In the middle of the big city we are bringing people together, we create and we adapt to the modern lifestyle and we keep sharing and exchanging.

Because in the spotlight will not only be actors, but some explosive social aspects of today's society. The project's playfulness highlights a deep understanding of today's world as we know it.

Thank you for supporting us and our cause!

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The money will go towards our end project.
We want to put our work on the stage and for this we need:

1. The rental of a proper theatre space.
2. The materials for our beautiful handmade costumes.
3. The set and props.
4. Paying people who make wonderful music and light the stage.

Who are the people behind the project?

Under the guidance of two talented directors and facilitators, Inka-Ch. Palm & Minna Partanen, 12 actors from 10 different countries and 5 different continents, 2 marvellous assistants and a crew of technical support have come together in a collaborative effort. The outcome is guaranteed to be original, as it involves a variety of cultures, experiences, perspectives and working methods.
