A 2020 report sited at https://www.borgenmagazine.com/plastic-pollution-in-ghana/ it is stated that Ghanaians generate over a million tons of plastic waste each year. With little technology or infrastructure to manage this waste 30% ends up in the ocean with the rest in the environment or at landfill sites.
