Joel Havea Trio | Ki 'a Lavaka

The Joel Havea Trio is: Joel Havea on vocals and guitar, Leo Lazar on drums and vocals and Arnd Geise on bass. The last few years has seen us develop into a very tight musical unit, no doubt a result of the countless shows we’ve played in clubs and festivals around Europe during this time.

Our last album “Setting Sail” (2017) was successfully crowdfunded using this platform, which is why we’ve decided to do it again for this project. Your support last time was amazing and it would be incredible to have you on board again and also welcome some new faces!

The next record “Ki ‘a Lavaka” is once again a colourful mix of music styles: e.g. blues & roots, soul, folk, funk, reggae and this time there are songs, which also take inspiration from traditional Tongan music. However we haven’t lost our distinctive sound; the foundation for the album was recorded, all together in one room at 106hz Studios in Hamburg, in minimal takes, in order to capture the energy and spontaneity of our now well-honed live show.

What is crowdfunding?
For those new to the concept, it is quite simple… If you want to get involved, you simply select from one of the great rewards on the right hand side. These rewards include things such as the new album on CD and vinyl, t-shirts, live concert packages, surprises packages and much more. Please take a look; there is something for everybody! If successful, the money raised from the campaign will directly go towards recording and producing our new album. If our goal is not reached, you’ll get your money back.

We’re asking for €15,000, however what we actually need to complete the record is €20,000 which would cover the costs to promote the album on all channels (e.g. media, print, online and radio).
