What is this project all about?

Growing up is rarely easy, but growing up poor and without the best prospects, in surroundings which show no remorse and expect one to behave a certain way is another story in itself. Join along into the story of José, a young man who is faced with far more than which clothes to wear today or which girl he would like to kiss. What makes a man a man? This is the question that José is constantly faced with.

Due to his physical inadequacies, José is not perceived to be a real man by his abusive stepfather and others of his age. José wants to prove to the world that he is in fact a man and he plans to rid his mother and himself of his abusive stepfather by „getting rid“ of him.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

This project is my bachelors thesis for my film studies at Darmstadt University. But to me ist a lot more than just a final thesis, it’s a very personal project which tells the stories of some of my friends and my own experiences. Perhaps everyone can find themselves in José in one way or another. A person trying o find his way and with obstacles to cross.
If you enjoy foreign places and beautiful imagery, you will get your shares worth in this film. We are shooting in the carribean pear „Cartagena de Indias, Columbia“.

Why would you support this project?

This project means a lot to me. I’ve been looking for ways to make it happen. The support we can get via your donation on startnext will allow us to incorporate the help of a lot of others in order to make this film happen.

You have the chance to help us from the beginning up until the end of our production. You will not only be supporting my own dream, but the dreams of a lot of young people who are very excited to be on board with this film. It’s not a charity project, but it will offer young actors a chance to get some international recognition and to try something new.

This is a proect that doesn’t try to accomodate the viewing habits of as many people as possible. It’s a statement of authenticity and honesty. Realising this project will help me to move onward to do even more films.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Every cent of your donation will go straight into this project. Since we are shooting in Columbia, we have costs of travel and equipment rental on location. Everyone involved in the project will be putting in as much as they can out of their own money. However our own savings are simply not enough to cover all of the costs. If we meet our crowdunding goals, you can continue to support us beyond than goal. Every donation beyond our goal will help us make the film even better and open up new possibilities. If we for some reason are not able to raise our goal, don’t worry. We won’t receive any funds and all of the donations will be returned to you. Rest assured we will be very frugal and try to get the most out of our funds!
