What is this project all about?

Jyoti – Fair Works is a social entreprise empowering women in India through the production of fair clothing. We train women in India in our own sewing facilities and offer them a permanent position and fair wage. The items produced in these facilities are sold in Europe. The earnings enable the funding of literacy and education programs with emphasis on labor and women's rights.

Our goal is to enable these women to lead a self-determined life. Together we develop individual projects that deal with finding future permanent and self-employment opportunities, where they can apply their newly acquired skills. The creation of this sustainable cycle enables us to reach out to even more women.

Together with the fashion designer Sarah we have designed a new summer collection that we want to produce on-site in India. To us it deeply matters that you assist our working processes and attend through our step by step documentation the finalization of an article of clothing. Our campaign is your campaign, so come along and be part of the story!

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

We aim the funding of our lovingly handcrafted summer collection 2015. This is naturally strongly related to giving our clothing a face and making you assist their creation. Our long-term goal is to reach more women in India by training them in sewing and therefor to path their way into a more self-determined life.

Jyoti’s target are people in search for special clothing with thant unique someting. People like you and me, that are concerned about where their clothing come from and where it has been produced. People, who worthy handicraft and who want to write a new chapter of our story with us.

Why would you support this project?

  • Because you can purchase lovely handmade clothing and accessories.
  • Because you can help us create greater awareness and transparency in fair, ecological production
  • Because you can find a new lovely item for yourself (and others) and contribute to change.
  • Because you can enable women in India to lead a more self-determined life.
  • Because the earnings fund education programs for seamstresses in India.
  • Because with your support you become a part of the story.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

6000 € will cover all arising production costs.
11000 € will not only cover all arising production costs, but we can acquire new sewing machines and invest in further education programs.
Our long-term goal is to admit more women to our project and therefor extend Jyoti – Fair Works to tell even more (life) stories of women in India.

Who are the people behind the project?

Jyoti – Fair Works is a colorful bunch of people:

  • Jeanine, founder of Jyoti – Fair Works and currently assidious student in London.
  • Caroline, co-founder of Jyoti – Fair Works and creative Design Thinker.
  • Christian, aspiring industrial engineer and sandpit friend of Jeanine.
