Kashay Salon - Eine neue Oase für Dresden

Ultimately, our collective wants to create an oasis for sharing cross-cultural ideas through the international and electronic music scene. Our project will provide a meeting place to promote the exchange of ideas in global and local club cultures. In doing so, we aim to develop a versatile space that can also host community projects and educational events which explore music, science, and cultural diversity in collaboration with our sister collective Eywa.

The project has two goals:
1. Design and renovate a location (the Kashay Cultural Oasis) where electronic music events bring in cross-cultural talent to seed new collaborations and develop local and international artists.

2. Use this infrastructure and collaborative, multidisciplinary crew to provide arts and science outreach in the community through Eywa. Both goals aim to bring together diverse groups in our community and to open new creative avenues for artists and locals alike.

By developing local talent and broadening our cultural experience via collaborations with international talent, we hope to help artists gain exposure with a platform to showcase their unique talents and skills. Further, we want to provide an environment that fosters creative innovation in the electronic music scene.

However, beyond the fun of our musical nighttimes, our members have ideas for the daytime too. We are planning outreach events to interest our younger friends that aim to inspire adults alike. We have a multidisciplinary team that will explore visual arts and their use in understanding science, as well as musical development and social diversity.

Our E.W., Eywa, is so happy to have already welcomed several artists, crews, record labels, and visual art experts to join our journey. They believe in our plans for Kashay Cultural Oasis because we’re focused on open-mindedness and enthusiasm for electronic music and our community, both local and abroad. We aim to design more than just a music venue, we foster community and creativity which we hope could inspire different kinds of people to join us on our path in developing our Kashay. With extra support, we could indeed renovate the space to begin hosting events by the end of summer. Post-Covid and the hot summer, your support would help us make a space for us to enjoy and bond as a flourishing electronic music community again.

If you enjoy genres spanning downtempo, slow rave, organic house, indie dance, and groovy world beats, then we have a vision for you. We have chosen an historic building in the heart of Dresden’s Industriegalende, where open-plan sunken rooms conjure an atmosphere that exemplifies our East German underground roots.

The concept and many helping hands are ready. We have worked hard and have been planning and building our concept for many months. Now we need your help to build a safe, beautiful, and high-quality music venue.

If Eywa can reach our targeted funding amount, the entire concept will be placed on the secure financial ground that is necessary for its establishment. If the project is overfunded, everything will be invested directly in further expansion, because there is still a lot to do!

All rooms have to be extensively renovated and everything from decaying brickwork (see video below), WC and bar installation, to the front doors has to be built from scratch. As we are pouring our time and effort into the renovation of our rooms, we ;recognize that we need more help. While we are donating our time, we also need specialists and quality materials that can ensure a safe space throughout. We are hoping you can support us with funding for the material and personnel costs that include installation of water, electricity, bar, guestroom and toilets, BarriereFrei WC, protected equipment storage, fire doors, and our outdoor space which has also been neglected for some time.
