The first funding target of 2120 euros is entirely on the printing costs of Kendama and the fees to Startnext.
Tradition, culture, movement, fun and purpose: Kendama is much more than a game. Kendama literally means sword and ball and consists of a ball and a handle connected by a string. It originated in Japan in the 17th century, where its French ancestor, the “Bilboquet”, was first taken up and further developed. Today thousands of people around the world use it to create a playful counterbalance to everyday’s life in schools, at work, on the road or at home.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
Kendama promotes balance between body and mind through playful joy. Coordination skills are important in every phase of life and at every age. Pupils, managers, taxi drivers and students alike, anyone can learn tricks on Kendama quickly and have fun using it. Main target groups are therefore children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. In addition, the handbook should serve as a helpful guide in working with children and adolescents.
Why would you support this project?
In our society, which is literally governed by a frenzy for technology, there needs to be a counterbalance that compensates its resulting disadvantages. We are influenced by new technologies and digital media continuously in an inescapable flow of information, while our minds nearly beg for rest and recreation. How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The first funding goal of 2,120 EUR contains only the printing costs of the Kendama book and the fees of Startnext. The second funding target of 4,120 EUR includes editing costs, word processing, cover, graphics and typesetting, and delivery costs, as well as adjusted fees of Startnext. Who are the people behind the project?
Lukas J. Beck founded "Kendama Austria" in the beginning of 2018. Since then, he has worked together with his cooperation partners on an Austrian-wide dissemination of Kendama and the establishment of a nationwide community. His main focus lies on the integration of Kendama in the pedagogical, didactic area, as a break filler, before a meeting, family party or just walking trough the streets.
