What is this project all about?
Learning is fun! It's even more fun together with Marty, the Little Mouse, who is setting out to count his critter friends.
Four chirping crickets, five quacking frogs, six smacking snails, seven buzzing bees ... counting all the adorable animals help little learners to practice their numbers in a blink!
The fun and engaging narrative style invites little learners age three and above to join in and practice their numbers. The touching story about friendship is a wonderful opportunity for children to talk about their feelings and how to appreciate one another.
"Die kleine Maus und ihre Freunde" is the German translation of "Who Wants to Play With Little Mouse?" that won the Indies Today Award 2020. I published this book during our expat period in the US as a self publisher. Now we are back in Germany and Marty and I would love to help little German learners practicing their numbers. I need your help us to make this dream come true! Please back this project, get your own little Marty and help us to bring many little learners a lot of fun!

The book consists of 36 lovingly illustrated pages where little readers can discover new details with every page turn. The hardcover is printed climate-neutral and sustainable with a size of appr. 21 x 21 cm. You will get the book and the reward before Christmas! What is the project goal and who is the project for?
This is a book for curious little learners, friends, mouse lovers, and fans of nature. It is a book to practice counting and discover language, a book for story times and early reader attempts.
Learning together is so much fun and enables you to connect with your child in a special way. There is nothing better than cuddling up together and enjoying those beautiful moments of connection. Marty, the Little Mouse brings you with his adorable and engaging learning story a small island of calm and connection in the storm of a stressful day. No matter if at home or at school - time is the most precious present we can give to our children. "Die kleine Maus und ihre Freunde" gives you an opportunity to spend this time in a loving and engaging way to learn and discover together.
The rhyme and cadence is perfect for small children but also for early readers.
Why would you support this project?
Children love to learn in a fun and interactive way and counting with Little Mouse is so much fun! This book has such an important lesson: to look after your friends and be there for them when they need you.
Some really wonderful people believe in this project and support it in different ways. Lovely Bettina Zimmermann, a German actress, narrated the audiobook.
Two wonderful musicians wrote and recorded a fun counting song exclusively for this book. Both the audiobook and the song download are part of the reward "Let's listen".
As an author and a mom, I'm supporting the children's hospice "Bärenherz" in Germany. With your support, you're indirectly helping me to support the children there.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The money will be used for:
- Printing the first edition of the book climate-neutral and sustainable
- Layout, formatting and illustrations (done)
- Editing and proofreading (done)

Who are the people behind the project?
That's me, Jana. Author, Dreamer, Mom, Do-Gooder.
As a mom of three little explorers I'm convinced that children love to learn in a fun and interactive way. When my girls started to learn counting I wanted to give them a book about numbers, nature, and friendship. We think that friendship is one of the most important things in life!
Like all parents I'm enjoying the moments where we cuddle up and read a book. We're having a special connection in those moments, meet each other in our imagination, laugh together, discover and learn together. To give children those minutes of undivided attention and connection is my motivation, it's the reason why I write.
During our expat time in the US I published four books in self publishing. "Die kleine Maus und ihre Freunde" is the German translation of "Who Wants to Play With Little Mouse?", a book that is loved by children and teachers. Self publishing is a wonderful thing (I wouldn't do it otherwise!), but it's also a big challenge: You have to do and finance everything on your own. And sometimes the missing money in your pocket doesn't allow you to move further and follow your dreams. That's why I created this project. So Marty can create a lot of "One! Two! Three!" shouts in moments of reading, cuddling, and exploring.
