Leon is lost in a new, unfamiliar world, without a map or the tools he needs to find his way.
Moving boxes mark Leons entry into a new life. Not on his own accord, but under tragic circumstances: His mother has passed away and has left him with only his grandparents as legal guardians. It is a difficult time for Leon because in one profound way he is different: he is an autist. A stable environment gives him security, but changes like this make the world seem oversized and frightening. His grandparents aren't prepared for the scale of his uniqueness. They now face the difficult task to reach out to a boy who grieves in an entirely different way than them and what they are used to and who often seems to be as far away from them as the stars.
Our target audience is the society we live in. We want to bring the topic to people's attention, who haven't given it a lot of thought. Furthermore, we want to illustrate that there isn't one correct way to perceive a situation, but that it can be a huge step forward to try and see the world through somebody elses eyes.
"Kleiner Löwe" ("Leo Minor") is a project that advocates for open-mindedness and tolerance, in this special case regarding autism. Everyone who is already informed on the topic or even deals with it themselves, should be able to feel the impact of this film. Everybody else, we ask to support this project so we can show them a different way to see the world. Leon's way.
Just like any other filmproject, the following goes: the more money we have on our hands, the better our chances are to reach our creative goals.
Since this project is a thesis film, it is definately going to be made and premiere as set. 2.000 € is a realistic minimum limit we need to reach through crowdfunding, as to not throw ourselves into debt. 4000 € or more could guarantee us that we can make it as we imagine it, without having to compromise due to finances. Naturally, every euro that exceeds the limit opens up new possibilities to make "Kleiner Löwe" the immersive experience we envision it to be.
All finances collected through startnext will go directly into the making of this film.
The team behind "Kleiner Löwe" is made up from a variety of people, all of them united by one thing: The love for film .
The initiave to start the project came from its producers, Nicki Spörle, Marcel Holzwarth and Miriam Reichart. All three of them study in the field "Audiovisual Media" in their seventh semester at the "Hochschule der Medien" in Stuttgart.
