We are exploring what the forest of the future will look like: Let's plant a climate forest together!
Forests worldwide are suffering from climate change. Due to weather extremes and pest infestations, huge areas of the German forest have died in recent years. We cannot be sure which tree species will withstand the developments of the future.
This is where our research project comes in: For there are tree species that are better adapted to harsher climatic conditions. We want to plant a variety of alternative tree species on a total area of about 14 hectares in eastern Brandenburg. Some of the species are already found in Germany, others come from southern Europe or North America, for example. The aim of the project is to investigate how the tree species get along with each other, whether a climate-stable mixed forest develops and how the individual tree develops. Together with Planted, we have already been able to finance a first reforestation with climate trees: This December, the planting of 16 alternative tree species will begin. The more trees we plant, the more species can be researched!
TESLA is already supporting the project - and with your help, we can plant another 10,000 climate trees on two hectares of farmland in January.
You can find the species list and more info about us and the project on our website.
What will the forest of the future look like? With our research project, we want to gather knowledge about climate-stable mixed forests in order to protect them.
OUR TARGET GROUP
With your support, you actively contribute to climate protection and biodiversity:
With your financial support, we will be able to plant another 10,000 climate trees on approximately 2 hectares of farmland in January!
A detailed overview of our costs can be found here. The biggest costs for our reforestation are the plants themselves and the preparation of the area. In addition, we are legally obliged to "compensate" for every hectare planted with alternative tree species, for example by planting native tree species or protecting flowering meadows. The law does not do justice to the current state of research on alternative tree species and will hopefully be adapted soon.
For you it only means: With every climate tree you automatically support further nature conservation projects of ours.
We – Naturraum für Generationen – have planted over 1,000,000 trees since 2020, which will grow into over 200 hectares of mixed forest. These were compensation measures, to ecologically offset e.g. construction measures.
From the beginning, we were accompanied by scientists: Prof. Schröder (HNE and LF Eberswalde) and Prof. Kätzel (HU Berlin) inspired us early on with their idea of a research project on alternative tree species. We tried for a long time to finance the project as a compensation area. Without success. As one of the regional projects supported by TESLA, we have now been able to take a giant step forward. We hope, that your donation will also help to bring the project forward.

Naturraum für Generationen
Through research, we want to help ensure that the forests of tomorrow are climate-stable. Every single tree planted contributes to climate protection by pulling tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere every year. In addition, the resulting forest provides habitats for many species, provides shade, keeps water in the ground longer through rooting, protects against wind and thus contributes to the stability of the entire ecosystem.
