With this amount we can get our manufacturing plant ready for operation.
This includes the construction itself, equipping it with the appropriate devices and installing a photovoltaic system for emission-free operation.
Conventional agriculture is one of the biggest climate killers in the world. In Brazil in particular, it is primarily responsible for the destruction of the rainforest. The “Climate rescue self made - Klimaretten Selbermachen” project proves otherwise. We plant trees according to the agroforestry principle. This means that crops are grown between the trees, the harvest in turn guarantees the sustainability of the forest. Our agroforest is now producing its first harvests, and in order to market them cost-coveringly, we have to process them further. That's why we need a manufacturing plant.
The goal is to build a manufacturing plant in which we can process the harvests from the agroforest. This means they can be sold cost-coveringly, which guarantees the long-term survival of the agroforest. Only if people can live of climate-positive agriculture they will switch to it. If we manage to sustainably finance the agroforest, then our model project will be scalable and other small farmers in the region will be able to switch from conventional to regenerative agriculture.
Because we urgently need regenerative agriculture. Agroforests are not only climate positive, but also are also much more resilient than monocultures, meaning they are less susceptible to weather extremes. In order for our model project to encourage other farmers to follow, it must be financially sustainable. We can only achieve this if we take the value chain into our own hands. For this we need a manufacturing plant. And we need your support to build it. Our work stores CO2, increases the water storage capacity of the soil, ensures biodiversity, creates livelihoods in the global south and also produces healthy food. It couldn't make more sense.
The manufacturing plant will be build in four phases:
The factory will be accesable to all the farmers in the neighborhood who work according to the agroforestry principle. This will strengthen regenerative agriculture in the region as a whole.
Klimaretten Selber machen - Climate rescue self-made - was founded in 2019 by Polly Di and Anatol Gunkel. The project is now supported by the Klimaretten e.V. association in Germany and by the “Associação Resgate Climático” in Brazil. In total we have 4 employees, 57 members and 997 people who have supported the project in a variety of ways.

The name says it all: Do-it-yourself climate rescue - Klimaretten Selbermachen - is about having the greatest possible impact on the climate with as few resources as possible. Trees are not only the best way to store CO2, they also enable truly sustainable agriculture between and among them. Climate protection, biodiversity, freshwater conservation on the one hand, good and healthy work on the other. And in the end there are all sorts of good things to harvest! It couldn't make more sense!
