„Maybe, Baby!“ tells the story of Marie and Sascha, both in their 30s and they have been a couple for a very long time. They sometimes don’t even know how long. They also want to have a child, because that’s what you do at that age.
When they suddenly find themselves with two other people in Maries Mother’s cottage in the Austrian mountains, the chaos begins. Everything that seemed so stable, is now being questioned. Do they really want to have a child? Have they already been together for too long? Do they really live the live they want? Now they have to face all these questions.
What is tragical for Marie and Sascha, can be pretty amusing to watch as outsider. A mirror of our generation, a late Coming-of-Age Story.
The film is for a wide range of people: couples who ask themselves the same questions like our protagonists, singles that can watch it from a safe distance, people who want to have children, or maybe not, or people who have gone through all that already and can watch it with a smile. It is also for parents or grandparents, who sometimes have trouble in understanding that life plans today look a little different than 30 years ago.
The story means a lot to us as director and producer, because it relates to a whole generation – our generation. It is a reflection of what we have noticed in our environment and friends, it picks up questions that we have even asked ourselves after the 2nd or 3rd glass of wine, if we wanted or not and the answers are really hard to get. The story mainly gives an insight in today’s generation of the mid-30s, todays “young adults”.
We are a group of young filmmakers from Berlin and Hamburg who all brought together their different experiences. That way we were able to realise our ideas and visions even with just little money without putting the quality and fun aside.
You can be a part of „Maybe, Baby!” – be co-financiers and help us and the whole team, that has already put a lot of effort in the filming so far, to finalise a unique project, that we are having fun producing and hope you will too, while watching it on the silver screen.
The first part of the movie has already been filmed in Tirol, Austria - you can find a short preview in the video at 0:45min. We are now preparing to shoot the rest in Berlin.
As we produce the film independently, we need the money to finance the filming. Even though there are a lot of companies that support us, there will always be expenses on equipment, locations, props, travel costs and catering of course. We also want professional postproduction (colour correction, sound mixing etc.) – produce international subtitles and promotion material like DVDs, posters, flyers etc.
As you can see, we have a funding threshold of 10.000€ - which already helps us a lot. But it is still nowhere near to covering our costs, which is why our actual funding goal is 15.000€ - thank you so much!
The idea and kick-off came from director and actress Julia who involved Frauke as producer in Mid-January. We met at the previous project “Das Floß!”. Once Cinematographer Martin joined us, and the three of us found the perfect location in Tirol in Austria, everything went very fast.
