mimycri - from boats to bags

It is about remembering and about starting new: We are an international team consisting of refugees and people who have lived in Berlin for a long time. We design bags, backpacks and accessories out of broken rubber boats. Each product embodies both the story of escape and of a new beginning. mimycri makes history tangible by introducing the material in form of a bag into our society.

It is about changing perspective: at mimycri waste turns into a valuable resource and refugees become friends and colleagues.

It is about it all together: mimycri brings social and economic benefits in a resource-efficient way. In a holistic way, mimycri combines sustainable business, migration, societal change and lifestyle. We want to create a sustainable project in order to make economic remuneration possible for everyone involved in mimycri.

Our goal is to encourage changing perspective through a concrete and innovative idea. We want to create awareness for what connects us – together with you!

Each mimycri product is unique and carries traces of its time as a boat. Small scratches and stains testify that our material has a special story. You will continue writing this story with using your mimycri product in your daily life.

With our international team, we have already designed our first prototypes. In order to align the external appearance of our project with is valuable context, we are working together with professional designer, photographers and cameraman. If we reach our funding goal, we can start producing the bags and backpacks together with refugees.

We are putting high emphasize on the quality of our products.
Finalising our products, we will constantly improve little details, such as the logo and zippers so that you receive a high-quality product which can accompany you as long as possible.
We will ask you for your preferred colour patterns during the realisation phase.
