Crowdfunding since 2010

My first Album

My name is Miriam, I’m a musician and I need a little help on my way to releasing my first album! I studied oboe at the University in Munich and I have been writing my own songs as long as I can remember. While studying classical music I started to arrange my songs for chamber music instrumentations, such as with piano, strings, oboe, percussion and other instruments. On www.miriamgreen.de you can find out how this sounds and if it appeals to you, I'd be truly grateful for any kind of support.

What is this project all about?

I'm happy to record my first album with your support and on this journey take further steps in the musical direction that I chose. When I tell people that I write songs for voice, piano and oboe nobody seems to be able to imagine what I’m talking about. That's due to the fact, that there seems to be no singing oboist in this world apart from me. But I really think that the oboe deserves a chance to have a space outside the regular orchestral world where this beautiful instrument is mainly used. Due to the experiences I’ve made during my studies I now want to produce my own songs the way I hear them: As a link between chamber music, orchestral arrangements and songwriting, using a vast variety of instruments such as piano, oboe, strings, guitar, and harmonium, different percussion and of course a singing voice. Apart from the musical ideas, my songs have a humanistic and poetic approach that will interweave throughout the album as a common theme. Music can have a lot of answers to questions that present themselves during difficult times like we are experiencing right now - I see my songs as a "silent" and peacefully challenging contribution to this kind of music. In this context we also produced a music video in different buildings of faith, such as a church, a mosque, a synagogue and a buddhist centre. This video, witch turned out to be an inter-religious project will be released together with the album as a message of tolerance and peace.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

First of all I started this crowdfunding to provide the production costs of my first album. My target group are people who like my music, or people who like to support new music, that doesn’t only aim to be beautiful, but also wants to transport a message.

Why would you support this project?

Feel free to support my project if you like to take time to drift away listening to music yet exploring what is transmitted by words and music at the same time.
My first album is not only for oboists or lovers of oboe and chamber music, but also for the ones that appreciate lyrics with greater meaning, which emphasise humanistic contents and remonstrate without getting lost in howls of protest. Seeing the world through the eyes of a believer, my songs also deliver a message of religious freedom. If you like music as a means or vehicle to speak out for a tolerant society, I’m quite sure you’ll appreciate my album.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

All money I receive will be used entirely for the production of my first album, that means all the costs for the studio, mixing and mastering, paying the musicians, designing the artwork and pressing the CD.

Who are the people behind the project?

Miriam Green has always been searching for peace - both inner and outer. Since sitting at the piano from the age of five, singing boisterously and composing small songs and pieces for piano, she has wandered through many different worlds of a music.

The young musician, who studied oboe at the University of Music and Performing Arts, finished her masters degree in the class of Prof. François Leleux in 2016. Ever since she picked up the oboe as her first instrument, she was combining her classical education with creative songwriting, structure with improvisation, poetry with protest and spirituality with politics.
Nestled into her chamber music arrangements, Miriam sings about personal and often socio-critical topics in a subtle and sensitive way.
Her work as a professional oboist in many different Orchestras and Ensembles is not only an inspiration but also an opportunity to get together with different musicians when it comes to her own songs.

Miriam is an award winner at the Giesinger Cultureprize 2014 in Munich, and at the German Peace-Song-Competition 2015 in Bonn.
