Support me in shooting the video for “Okavango”, the first single from my album.
I am currently working on my debut album "Mainane", which is scheduled for release in Autumn of 2024. The album depicts my childhood memories around the Okavango area, life experiences and with an influence from my culture, while the song Okavango itself is a remembrance of the time I spent with my father who passed away when I was still young, a tribute to him. Okavango is a beautiful delta in North-West Botswana, a tourist attraction, but above all: my home.

What is this project all about?
For my debut single "Okavango" I want to shoot a music video at the Okavango Delta in the North-West of Botswana. As a newcomer, a video is extremely important as a visual representation of my stories.
Of course, that costs some money: for the flights, for further travel costs and a small camera crew in Botswana and also for additional shooting and the editing of the video in Germany at Emotion Pictures.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
In this stage of my journey as an artist, the first single is the first milestone. The music video is meant to reflect the song-context to the listener; in underlining the mood and theme of the music with its images. My wish is that the song would reach people who like handmade high-quality music - and to connect with them through the musical expression of my thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Why would you support this project?
The flight tickets, like the prices for many other things, have risen significantly in recent years. Both in Botswana and in Germany, I want to work with professionals whom I want to pay fairly, because the video should match to the quality of the song production. I’d be grateful if you want to support my journey as an artist and contribute to making my music visible.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
My three-year-old daughter and I would fly to Botswana, meet up with the Camera Crew and other people to capture the various scenes from the song into images in the wonderful landscapes of the Okavango Delta. My daughter is supposed to represent my younger self in the video.
Back in Marburg, we would shoot the remaining scenes with the professionals from Emotion Pictures, who would also edit and cut the film sequences - for the video to be ready for the single release.
Who are the people behind the project?
My team includes in no particular order my producer Manuel Steinhoff - and of course the film crew and my collegues in Botswana as well as the Marburg film production company Emotion Pictures and the wonderful musicians; Janik Hüsch (drums & percussion), Peter Herrmann (acoustic guitars), Uli Kringler (acoustic and electric guitars) and Samuel Jersak (rhodes), who recorded the song so beautifully.

Why does this project contribute to this goal?
Cross-border cooperation, strong partnership structures and the will to pay fairly play a big role in the whole process. Having creatives from my two homes (Germany and Botswana) coming together to create this project is just magical to me.
