Our story is about finding the feeling of home.
We joined our creative forces to tell in animation the story of a young Israeli woman, Neta, who wants to take a debatable step - leave her home in Israel and emigrate to Berlin.
It is no secret immigration to another country is a process many young people throughout the world take, with difficulties. But it is a decision even more complicated, bearing a stigma in the Israeli society, especially if your destination is what was considered the land of perpetrators.
But clearly the hardest part to deal with when you want to leave your home and explore your roots, is to deal with the feeling of someone close you have betrayed.
Our main character, Neta has to deal with the feeling of her father, whose parents were holocaust survivors. In his eyes, Neta’s decision is a death sentence to herself and her future children, not just a simple re-location.
Our story will explore how these two different generations would have to find ways to start seeing past the past, and into the present and future. How they will have to start seeing things through each other’s eye. How they will find the way to interact and keep their once loving relationship. How they will find the strength to grow up.
Our project has been supported by the DEFA-foundation.
As third generation Israelis and German we believe it’s imperative to be both looking backwards into history and learning from it, but also forward to the future of mutual understanding and growing. We wish to make a film that will highlight the mental state of young immigrants of our generation, and tell a family story of how father-daughter love must overcome some very difficult obstacles.
-Help us in our effort to make the voice of the young generation of both our countries heard.
-Become part of an Israeli-German film co-production
-Great rewards
Since our film will be a combination of live action and animation, we have written a the script and have researched the locations. We now need 2000 Euros to produce the first scenes of our film in the most perfect way. With the this kind of teaser we aim to find additional funding for the full scale film.
