This amount covers festival costs that are not covered by the funding and the #Mygration team.
#Mygration is a storytelling project that aims to bring people from different migration backgrounds together, to be empowered and celebrate our diversity.
This year we will be focusing on Germany. We invite those who have migrated to Germany to participate. You can share your stories online on our social media platforms and offline at the Berlin festival that will take place on the 20th and 21st of March 2020 at Forum Factory, Berlin.
For the festival we are inviting writers, visual artists, scholars, activists, filmmakers, chefs/cooks, musicians and workshop facilitators to partake in the program. The program and curation will step away from academic and traditional structures that are not accessible or inclusive; allowing participants to freely move through and experience different forms of information and expertise. This is a more welcoming and fun way we can come together to begin discourses surrounding issues like migration, discrimination, identities and more and better understand how to move towards a more equal future.
#Mygration provides a space for your existence, history and narrative to be told in your own way… without appropriation and expectation of particular narratives. Stories allow for social and spatial boundaries to be blurred. They have the ability to transgress confinements of space, time and being; bringing together separate spheres of life into conjunction.
#Mygration aims to connect various individuals and communities through shared feelings and experiences. Intergenerational connection, and breaking gender, race, beliefs, sexual orientation, language and class barriers are also goals. Through the stories told more awareness of migration complexities and issues will arise, the storytelling will empower migrant communities; hopefully leading to more understanding and inclusivity within diversity.
#Mygration is about self-determination, we want to offer spaces for migrant communities to tell their own stories and to exchange collectively shared narratives. The project is for all migrant communities, share it with your friends and bring you family!
The project wants to empower through the shared feeling of “other” and to replace it with a sense of belonging; creating a space where diversity unites.
By supporting this project, you'll not only be gettin' hella cool street cred, you'll also be an advocate for social change.
“Mygration - my narrative!” You will be wearing the slogan that’s at the heart of the project. We want to question how migrants’ stories are told and appropriated in the media and the arts. Who is really telling the story? Who is profiting? Who is left to overcome revived traumas? #Mygration is created by and for migrant communities to tell their histories and narratives in their own way… without appropriation and expectation of particular narratives.
More generally, you will support us in creating much needed spaces for exchange and solidarity between different migrant communities. Especially as ethno-nationalism is on the rise in Germany and elsewhere we want to support individuals who feel left alone with their experiences of discrimination and with conflicting identities. We refuse to be intimidated by racism and right-wing terror, we refuse to be divided.
The 2500 euro goal will be used to cover unfunded costs, which are:

Dear #Mygration Supporters,
As many other wonderful events, we too have postponed the #Mygration Deutschland Festival. We hope that we can host this festival with our wonderful program in early summer.
In the meantime, the #Mygration team are still working hard to connect the community online and come up with new ways to amplify narratives!
You support will still go towards the festival and online movements! Thank you again for being a part of this!
