A long silence - but now it is almost here
Dear Everyone,
I am so sorry for a couple of things;
1. I didn't manage to update on this platform for a long time.
2. Also I wasn't aware, or rather, I was under the impression that startnext would send me updates when I would receive a message, I was wrong, and therefore didn't manage to reply to messages asking for updates.
Well here it is, an update:
First and foremost, this project took a bit longer than I thought it would but it is still progressing. The delay however had a couple of reasons.
Firstly I (Max) started studying a film master, and for that I had to move to Amsterdam, away from Berlin. This put the project on hold for a bit as I was trying to find a place again in the Netherlands, adjusting to the new study and diving in a new research. However we had all the footage ready - this was also the reason why I wanted everything shot before the summer 2023 was done.
Secondly the funds we managed to raise were primarily used for the production phase. We shot everything as good as we could, saved it on several hard drives, made foto's, paid everyone at least something for their work and we rented all the equipment. (film making is quite expensive).
Post production was therefore not really funded through this platform, and I had to raise a bit more funding to be able to pay the people I wanted to work with.
Lastly, the study is very demanding and has me questioning a lot of my applied methodologies. I felt that once summer would start I would be able to finish the project - which I have been able to now (I even feel it fits in the larger research of the master).
Right now, we picture locked (meaning: the edit is done) the project with long-time collaborator and brilliant editor Amir Steklov (https://www.amirsteklov.com/). I am working with a grader (https://fidi-johansen.com/ ) and sound engineer (https://victorsham.com/) to make the final touches of colour and sound (sound, especially, will be a tricky one), as well as working with a close friend and musician Minq (check out their work: https://soundcloud.com/soundslikeminq).
To be honest I am really excited to share the project with you all, and I'll try to, in the next couple weeks figure out who, what, how and when. Especially as we also want to release it via festivals and try to use it as a proof of concept for the series it actually is intended for.
But mostly I want to thank all of you for your patience, and even reaching out (please keep doing that). I'll try to be more responsive.
Hope to share it with all of you soon!
Max and the Wyd team.
