This amount covers all costs for a professional studio production as well as for pressing and publication.
The frontwoman Peggy Sugarhill and her band Rockemarieche stand for energetic modern Rockabilly, spiced up with musical influences of the last 30 years and with Cologne lyrics. With feeling and with balls.
Music drives us onto the stage - in Cologne, throughout Germany, beyond the borders, in small pubs and large venues, or touring Germany as supporting act for the Cologne Rockpop heros Kasalla.
We write our own songs, cover American hits, have released some singles and videos and move between retro with trash factor, Rock´n’Roll with synthesizer and country pop. Five musicians in the race with the greats of the Cologne music scene and yet unique on the continent.
Now it's finally time for our first album! We hope to be able to set up a production from crowdfunding that is in no way inferior to the "big ones", that fills us with pride and makes us happy. And you!
In summer 2019 we will be at the studio. 12-14 songs are planned, which we would like to record at the Tobago Studio in Bochum. Then the songs have to be mixed, mastered and pressed onto a CD. We also need new fancy photos, a bombastic artwork and some extra bills for distribution and promotion. After all, the world outside is supposed to know.
Our music is for everyone who is into good, fresh vintage Rock´n’Roll, authentic music and can handle a mixture of Elvis and Beyoncé – sung in kölsch / German.
Kölsch is a Rock´n’Roll language that works for us just as well as American or English - direct, tough, honest. Rockabilly is a style of music that goes straight into the legs and the buttocks, no matter if you have the biggest vinyl collection of the 50s in your closet or not. You can't help but move to the beat and feel the everyday bad mood disappear...
Anyone who likes handmade, energetic and soulful music will have fun with this album because of or in spite of the reference to the Cologne tradition.
Support us and in the end hold an album in your hands, which you often and gladly listen to, to which you can dance, sing, laugh, sway or cry.
Also supports the diversity of music in Germany - the crazy ideas that need a voice, and artists who make their way through the music jungle without record company sponsored advertising campaigns.
By the way, we bring this diversity into the Cologne Carnival. Successfully, we would say. Peggy Sugarhill & Rockemarieche as well as many other young bands from Cologne can write the compliment "finally something new" on their flag. Changes and progress as an engine to keep the Cologne tradition alive. We think that's great!
And finally, even if we don't want to keep on at it: Where are the girls in the music business? Rock´n´Roll is not for girls? Boo! We would like to contribute to changing this picture. That's long overdue. 2019, hello?!
The songs for the album are ready. With your crowdfunding support you enable us to take these next steps:
- Studio rent
- Producer + sound engineer
- Mixing and mastering of the songs
- Foto shooting
- Creation of the artwork
- Pressing of the CD
- Publication (physical and digital) and promotion
And because we otherwise overflow with ideas, we have - in case of reaching the 2nd funding target - set a TOP 3 of the very big plans:
1. A limited edition of vinyls, bright turquoise, touchable and with the unmistakable sound of a real record.
2. A badass music video that would even make Beyoncé cry with envy and joy (just saying…).
3. Professional marketing, which helps us to step beyond the borders of Cologne and continue our mission.
