SAVE ACUD MACHT NEU, its team needs your help!

We founded ACUD MACHT NEU six years ago as an initiative to save and revive the independent art space and cultural venue Kunsthaus ACUD in Mitte, Berlin by programming three of its spaces: the CLUB, the STUDIO and the GALERIE. Over the years we have presented concerts, performances, exhibitions, talks and screenings by thousands of artists with a great diversity of backgrounds and communities from all over the world. We are an independent non-commercial art space and a cultural venue without basic external fundings - which means that our program, our team and our expenses were financed by revenues from the events.

Since the 12th of March we are under total lockdown - and expecting this situation not to improve until summer - so we are in urgent need of financial support to survive.

We are an international team of 38 people keeping our space alive and the program with everything around it running. Most of us are freelance artists ourselves, many of us are Non-EU citizens and all are financially dependent on the basic income from our commitment to ACUD MACHT NEU. We were working here for 6 years out of passion and dedication investing our time and energy to it, but now we can not keep going on without the help of the people around it, of the audience, of our community - of YOU.

As a goal to pay our team members and cover basic venue related expenses, we need at least €8.000 financial support each month from our audiences, our community, our friends, the art communities we are connected to, the art lovers and our local neighborhood.
We expect the lockdown of event spaces to last at least for 3 more months - this means we need at least €24.000 to save ACUD MACHT NEU and its team to survive until summer!

Our vision is to build an interactive forum of relevant cultural dialogue, a safe(r) space of free artistic expression for a local and international audience and invite anyone who shares the same values of openness; diversity, inclusiveness and cooperation that makes ACUD MACHT NEU’s artistic vision unique. We are grateful for all the positive feedback and support so far, and we all have the commitment to continue, if we can, for our community and neighborhood.

Over the past years we have provided a stage for thousands of artists from all over the world. We are one of the most active interdisciplinary venues in Berlin, and one of the last experimental art spaces in Mitte. We are a team of committed curators, artists, cultural workers and technicians with the shared vision of an inclusive compassionate space for the experimental and visionary arts. Within the 6 past years we have supported and offered a stage for many art communities - now we need your support and help to keep up with this mission.

We need every single euro we can get, everything helps even if we don’t reach the goals. This fund goes directly to the immediate financial aid for the team members behind the venue: freelancers, artists, musicians, performers, filmmakers, photographers, designers, technicians, bartenders, curators, bookers, handymen, cultural workers, families and all the individuals most in urgent need.
