Saxophone Duets "Around the World"

"Around the World" - the title for the collection was there before the pandemic, and it was meant to celebrate music as a universal language that connects people around the world. I hope that the time is near where this original meaning becomes primary again.

The collection is playable as a 30 minute concert repertoire reaching from the middle ages to our times, from Argentinian Tango to Spanish Flamenco, Balkan Beats and Carribean Calypso, from jazz and blues to classical and romantic music.

The duets also follow a didactic concept, though. They are ordered from easy (min. 2 years of playing experience) to medium difficulty (music college level) and focus on different technical aspects of saxophone playing. Therefore, they are well suited for self study or as teaching material. The music is playable on two equal saxophones (SS, AA, TT, BB) or on alto and tenor sax.

Within the startnext campaign, I want to finish the music engraving and layout and publish the music with Universal Edition, Vienna, who have already agreed to publish the work. Furthermore I want to make audio recordings in studio quality to accompany the edition.

I also want to produce Youtube tutorials with additional exercises, and create a workshop concept, so that I can offer workshops as soon as the pandemic allows it.

The goal is

• to finish the music engraving for publication
• to make studio recordings in the form of a download, an audio CD and tracks in stereo separation for practising.
• the creating of the Youtube videos
• as an additional goal, I also plan to make live concerts as soon as this is sensible again.

The target groups are

• saxophonists form beginner (min. 1-2 years playing experience) to advanced players (music college level)
• music schools, music vendors, libraries, music colleges who are interested in the printed music or in worlshops
• music promoters or concert venues
• private music lovers who want to enjoy the music on CD, online, or live

Wir stehen vermutlich vor einem erneuten Lockdown, und gerade jetzt, wo die Möglichkeiten von Live-Konzerten wegfällt, hoffe ich, durch die Notenausgabe und die youtube-Tutorials wieder etwas Sinn und Hoffnung in die Leben derer zu bringen, die an die Musik als notwendige emotionale Nahrung, verbindendes kulturelles Element und universelle Sprache glauben.

Im Gegensatz zu klassischen Instrumenten gibt es für Saxophon noch immer relativ wenig gutes Unterrichtsmaterial, und diese Duett-Sammlung ist für Saxophonunterricht, Selbststudium im Lockdown oder postpandemische Konzerte hervorragend geeignet.
