This project develops a mobile platform for the users to post the food ingredients they want to give away for free or sell at a self-defined price.
Against food waste! It’s often the case that many people buy more food ingredients than they actually need. Usually, the extra food would be wasted. To solve this problem, we develop a simple App, ShareKitchen, for people to post their extra food ingredients, and either sell them for low prices or give away for free. This App is based on the idea of neighbour-sharing for convenient selling and pick-up. The users can also see the posts of other users and easily find the ingredients they need.

What is this project all about?
Most of us have been in a situation where there are too many ingredients in our kitchen for us to consume, or the food ingredients sold in supermarkets are already packed in portions, which is much more than what we need. We end up either giving them away to our neighbors that might not need it or simply throwing them away. This causes a huge amount of food waste around the world.
Our project develops a mobile App, ShareKitchen, for both iOS and Android users to post the ingredients they no longer need to solve this household food waste problem. They can either give them away for free or sell it at self-defined prices. Users can see the posts of other users and easily find the ingredients they need.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
The goal is to develop and deploy the mobile App, ShareKitchen, as described above in the description.
This project is for users who have smartphones and cook at home.
Why would you support this project?
The wasted food can actually feed many people in hunger. Besides, food waste counts for 8% of the global warming problem. Our project helps solving this issue by allowing users to post the ingredients they do not need and want to give away.
