The social drink project. We make drinks and spread ideas.

Make Solidarity Great Again! We make drinks and spread ideas. Solidrinks is a social drink project that supports local refugees’ initiatives in a transparent way. Every bottle is part of a campaign for an inclusive society - with the solishouts, our labels. You can see right away who you are supporting. And you are carrying important messages in public. Local. Direct. Transparent. Catching. Drink along!

What is this project all about?

We develop unique soft drinks from fair trade ingredients and support refugees’ own projects and initiatives with a fixed amount per bottle and all profits.

Our idea was to find an everyday object that can continuously generate donations and that is visible in public and able to transport important messages. Something that makes donating transparent and simple but informative, an everyday companion that engages us in conversations and that motivates us to take a hand in everyday politics.

And then there was SOLIMATE, our first trick, a solidrink with an outstanding taste that supports sustainable consumption and mingles with current debates in public, bringing important ideas and objectives to the table, to cafés and clubs, to the parks and sports fields.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Solidrinks establishes a sustainable donation system to support refugee initiatives and it motivates people to engage in important questions of our time. We think that a transformation towards a truly inclusive society is only possible if each and everyone can participate. We start with our own project, working in tandems: At Solidrinks people with and without a history of migration or escape share a task in the project.

Our project goal is to develop the SOLITANDEM job-sharing further via the crowdfunding and to find a way to pay it adequately. We want to build tandem-jobs that make working easier and more fun for everyone involved. We’re planning trainee positions for refugees that not only leave room for personal professional development but also have a very practical impact on the individual’s right to residence, giving the refugees in the team a perspective to stay and participate actively.

Our project is for all of you out there! For everyone who enjoys having a fair trade soda and who wants to support the commitment of others; for all of you who ask yourself from time to time: what is it that I myself can do?

Why would you support this project?

We support refugees in two ways: by establishing job opportunities and, particularly, by supporting their own initiatives and projects. This caters to a society in diversity and solidarity.

Solidrinks asks you to get involved and to speak up! You can support initiatives beyond complicated funding guidelines and lengthy bureaucratic processes. Thanks to the SOLISHOUTS, you know immediately where your support goes! You get to know initiatives in your neighbourhood and you can decide to join right away or to spread their messages.

Since October 2015, we’ve all worked voluntarily on our project Solidrinks. Even -or maybe especially- the most social business model doesn’t pay for itself from day 1. Friends and family loaned money to enable the very first small production of Solimate in 2016. They financed our testing phase and helped to materialise our vision. Luckily, people really enjoy the Solimate (hurraaa!) and the bottles are almost sold… so you need to help us!

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Since October 2015 we’ve all worked pro bono on our project. Reaching the funding goal of 50.000 Euro lets us pay refugees’ trainee positions and rent for one year, and, additionally, we can bottle the 0,5l Solimate (by popular request ;)) OR finance the new Solidrink. We also plan to finance a workshop to develop the SOLISHOUT campaign and labels together with the coming supported initiatives: for more impact and public reach.

If we reach the funding threshold of 20.000 Euro, we can already pay one trainee position and let our dream of an own office (yes we still work in different team member’s kitchens and living rooms) or an own corner in a co-working space come true. This would facilitate in particular the infrastructure of our intercultural job-sharing and make Solidrinks even more hospitable.

To be able to plan for more than a few months in advance and to finally realise the next Solidrinks in the pipeline, we would need 100.000 Euro. This would mean a backed Solidrinks-business year, in which we can develop sales to an extent that makes our social business stand on its of feet in summer/autumn 2018. This also means: more profit that goes to the initiatives and more sustainable trainee positions for refugees.

In the end: every cent counts and can be invested meaningful and effective. It also all depends on the speed and extent of you drinking along! Save your own starter package, the Berlin drink wodka-mate or dinner with the team now by choosing a reward on the right and spread the word in your home town, your favourite bar and on Facebook!

Who are the people behind the project?

Roberta Di Martino is Solidrinks’ initiator and creative brain. Apart from her own never-ending integration project, she’s responsible for marketing and unchallenged queen of sales.

Homayoon Jafari prefers to work in direct customer contact. He’s the heart and the smile of each and every promotion and would like to start sharing the task of CRM with Patrick in tandem.

Patrick Kintzi is initiator and CEO with a passion for numbers and the public common economy (‘Gemeinwohlökonomie’), he’s Solidrinks’ tireless expert in production matters and bureaucracy.

Mohamed ‚Manti’ Diallo dreams of an own Solidrinks branch in Western Africa and places the Solimate in Berlin’s best bars.

Frauke Wiegand is Solidrinks’ feelgood agent with a passion for organization theories and tools. Together with Roberta she designs the areas communication and team.

Last but not least, it is the supported initiatives that make Solidrinks and keep us going: At the moment we support Champions Ohne Grenzen e.V., Women in Exile & Friends e.V., Bag Mohajer and KuB- Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Flüchtlinge und Migrant*innen e.V..
