Crowdfunding since 2010
Steel Vintage Bikes Café is a place where cycling and café culture meet in the same friendly and enthusiastic environment. Our café offers home-baked snacks, cakes, Italian coffee and has an array of cycling literature. It is a great pit stop for cyclists who need to fuel their ride and a cosy hangout for locals and visitors alike. We welcome riders of all kinds and friends with or without two wheels who just enjoy a nice atmosphere and a great cup of coffee.

What is this project all about?

Steel Vintage Bikes Café is about fusing coffee and cycling culture. Our reasons are simple: a love of cycling, a passion for good coffee, an appreciation of tasty snacks and a desire to build something special in our community.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Our social aim is to provide a focal point for Berlin´s cycling community where cyclists can fuel their ride with Italian snacks, cakes, good coffee, wine and beer.

For those who aren't bike people, the café can make a specialty bike shop less intimidating and we will strive to engage a new cycling audience by showcasing its fun, healthy and sustainable nature.

Why would you support this project?

Ours is a unique combination of a vintage bicycle shop with rare classic bicycles and a café with high quality tasty stuff: espresso, snacks and sweets.

It's also a venue that provides events and entertainment such as vintage bike tours, film nights and exhibitions.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

We need to raise a total of 18,000 euros for our project with a minimum of 10,000 from crowd funding. We hope that the remainder will come from a combination of grants, personal savings and loans from individual supporters.

Crowd funding is a hugely important part of our start up costs.

The money that people donate through crowd funding will be used as follows:
- set up of our own kitchen
- full kitchen equipment
- furniture and design elements
- standard dining equipment such as cutlery and mugs

Who are the people behind the project?

Tamara Ashling Lee and Alexander Bisaliev are behind the Steel Vintage Bikes Café project.

Alexander Bisaliev is a passionate cyclist and founded Steel Vintage Bikes after he finished his studies in mathematics in 2011. His strong business leadership skills and passion for vintage bicycles have resulted in a well established international company with a workshop and showroom in Berlin-Friedrichshain.

Tamara Ashling Lee is an essential part of Steel Vintage Bikes extending it with the cycle café. Tamara worked in finance and has strong analytical and organizational skills in addition to her singing and songwriting.

Both, Tamara and Alex strongly believe in this project. Their different backgrounds and experience help them complement each other for the development of Steel Vintage Bikes Café.
