With the money we will finance the production of a first small edition of "Summsalabim", the funny sustainable and cooperative bumblebee game. Yay !!!
At Gaiagames, we believe that we can change the world with fun and emotion. That's why we develop games on socially relevant topics.
With your help, we want to realise our new, interactive and sustainable board game "Summsalabim".
What is the game about?:
In the game, you slip into the role of a bunch of bumblebees and try to collect enough nectar for you and your offspring by skilful balancing.
By humming and buzzing, you guide the collecting bumblebee to the right flower.
But beware, there is also a trickier version with the powerful wizard "Pestizido" and his magic dice. Will you manage to collect enough nectar despite dizzy senses?
Recommended age: 5 years and older
Number of players: 2 to 5+.
Game duration: 15 minutes.
The great thing is that you play with each other and not against each other. Because when we work together, everyone has fun.
Along the way, you'll also learn about native plants and bumblebees, which, by the way, belong to the wild bees. In the end, you will even learn how you can help them in your everyday life!
It is also very important to us that the games are produced as sustainably as possible. Summsalabim is produced in Germany, printed on FSC paper and comes to your home completely plastic-free.
By the way, Summsalabim is the fourth game in our publishing house that we are realising via crowdfunding.
Goals
You probably know the honey bee. But did you know that there are another 585 species of wild bees in Germany alone? Bumblebees are also among them.
With "Summsalabim" we want to...
...motivate and activate people for the protection of bumble bees and wild bees in a playful way. It is important to us never to point the finger but always to offer solutions for the problems.
...show the potential of games to gain knowledge and understanding, without quizzes. In order for the message to work in the end, game mechanics and theme are perfectly intertwined.
...promote sustainable and local board game productions.
Target group
"Summsalabim" is our first children's game and is aimed primarily at pre-school and primary school children. In our test rounds, however, the adults always had a lot of fun too. Because only when everyone likes a game does it regularly appear on the table.
Recommended age: 5 years and older
Number of players: 2 to 5+.
Playing time: 15 minutes
ps. You can even paint the wooden bumblebees in the game yourself!
With your support, you will help us to bring another great nature game to life through crowdfunding and to educate about the very important topic of wild bee protection and pesticides in a playful way.
So far we have already crowdfunded Ecogon, Fish 'n' Flips and Ecogon - Still Waters. If you'd like to learn more about our games, feel free to check out our website:
You help our small games collective "Gaiagames" to spread the message that we can change the world through fun and emotions. It is also important to us to reach many people with our sustainably produced games and hopefully inspire them to think and act. Because nature conservation is only possible together!
By the way: You also support the initiative "Germany is buzzing!", which campaigns for the protection of wild bees and to which we donate part of the proceeds.
We have already put a lot of energy, time and love into "Summsalabim", what we still need is money :D
Specifically, we need money for...
...the printing costs.
...the great work of our illustrator.
...the editing.
...the layout
...our work as a publisher and the conceptual development of Summsalabim and many other sustainable games that will follow.
And if everything goes well, also for lots of thank-you ice cream after the campaign.
With the first funding goal we can print a small first edition and the money for the wonderful illustrations by Nicole Pustelny is in again.
Unfortunately there is no ice cream yet.
With the 2nd funding goal we can print more games and also give games away to the test play kindergartens and other institutions. Plus, we can cover editorial and layout costs, yay!
Some people eat some ice cream.
With the 3rd Fundigziel we can cover all costs and even pay for a big part of our working time.
There is a lot of ice cream (vegan, of course), some people even get a stomach ache.
Even more money, WOW! The ice cream industry is booming and we are infinitely grateful to you all for your great support.

Game development and concept: Gaiagames
We are Gaiagames: a sustainable, low hierarchy and motivated games collective. On the one hand, we all love to play games and on the other hand, we develop, produce and publish great board games.
With our sustainably produced games, we want to inspire and sensitise people for certain topics (nature, environment, politics, education, ...) and, in the best case, encourage them to take action. In doing so, we want to contribute to the protection of nature and the environment and hopefully also to a better world.
Our games...
... are produced as environmentally and socially compatible as possible, regionally in Germany.
...are related to socially relevant topics and/or have a learning effect.
...are cooperative and promote social, personal and professional skills.
...are completely plastic-free.
...are printed C0²-neutral on FSC-certified and recycled paper.
...are produced as waste-free as possible.
...are packed as small as possible and as large as necessary.
...are above all a lot of fun
A lot of thanks for testing rounds, feedback and support also goes to:
Many Leipzig kindergartens and school after-school clubs, Kids Campus Leipzig and the WeltEntdecker after-school club, KiTa Flohrstraße Osnabrück, Ernst-Klee-Förderschule Mettingen, Monika Boerger, Dominik and Natalia Eulberg, Jan-David Freund, Martha Glaser, Gustav Grabolle, Kirsten Hiese, Renate and Friedhelm Hetling, Konrad Jahn, Dorian Laubvogel, Frances Luhn, Mona Reduth, Katja Trumpler, Ilka Viehmann, Jonathan and Simon Werner, Sonja Wilhelm, Sophia von Wilcken, and many more.
Special thanks go to Johannes Heimrath from the "Bündnis für enkeltaugliche Landwirtschaft" and Cornelis Hemmer from "Deutschland humt!" for their expertise and time.
Gaiagames
Topics like climate change, environmental protection and species conservation are uncomfortable and often delivered with a certain heaviness. At Gaiagames, we believe that fun, emotion and motivation are super important to transfer knowledge and inspire people to think and act.
We want to continue to enrich the educational landscape with great sustainable board games and show that education and fun are not contradictory.
Our motto: Inspire instead of instruct!
Edutainment - Begeistern statt Belehren
