Crowdfunding since 2010
This photo book documents the work of the 1st league volleyball team 'SVG Lüneburg' on its way through this incredible season. As a photographer I followed the team throughout several weeks during practice, home games and the big adventure ‚Cup Final 2015‘ at the sideline, in the changing room, in the Hotel or at other preparations such as video analysis. As the participation in the cup final is a highlight of the season, a main focus of the book will be on those days.

What is this project all about?

The project ‚Heroes of Lüneburg‘ wants to capture the fascination around the team and their work in a fine-art photo book. To be able to do that, I had to spend quite some time with the team in different occasions, take lots of pictures and find a middle way between getting close with the camera and not intruding too much in their privacy. Although I have just been an observer I got dragged into the daily work life of the team and managed to get an individual and close look on the work beyond the volleyball court. The aim of the book is to share those impressions with you.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Reminiscence and emotions in a book! Fans, family & friends were able to experience some situations at the sideline of the court, many other moments they were refused access to. Especially at such an official event as the Cup Final!

The SVG Lüneburg volleyball team is more than serve, reception and spike. There is rest and concentration, hard work, motivation and the handling with a defeat. In the centre of that are humans, protagonists in interaction with them selves, other team mates and their fans.

This book is for all volleyball fans, people from Lüneburg, people from Lüneburg who like volleyball, photo book lovers and everyone else not mentioned here who is in favor of such a project!

Why would you support this project?

Because it captures moments that mean a lot to the protagonists and their environment . It shows fans & family a view on the team that they didn’t have throughout the season. Photographs can try to hold on to those moments.
To publish all that in a book, which can be bought, given away, looked at and shown around by everyone values the whole team and its hard work. Especially at the beginning of the season, no one would have though it possible what the players and their crew have achieved so far. This book is an attempt to remember and to make it last.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The money will be used to cost for printing and for a professionell book designer.

The book will be printed on high quality paper in off-set mode. It is planned to realize a limited edition of 1.000 pieces.

Contributing to the project has no risk for you what so ever. If the necessary amount could not be raised and the project could not be realized, you automatically get your money back through the system of startnext.
If the project will be realized, you will receive the item you chose when the book is finished this summer.

Who are the people behind the project?

Hello World!

My name is Hannes Harnack, a Lüneburg based professional photographer. The focus of my work lies on documentary as well as event- and wedding photography.

I am interested in volleyball since I was kid. I played it myself for quite some time and was followed the women’s team in Dresden weekend after weekend when they played and won their first championship.
After living in Lüneburg for more than 5 years now, the photo documentary about SVG Lüneburg transformed my new home town into a volleyball for me, as well.
