THE HEAVEN AND HELL ORCHESTRA should be understood as a "fling". After 20 years of MonokelPop I wanted the music to be different but stay connected to 1920s.
A homage to the idols of my youth. ... I am a storyteller, and this is my new story:
Berlin 1929: The Himmel & Hoelle, a notorious entertainment establishment in decadent West Berlin, celebrated the British jazz musician and composer Charles T. Good Hill and his orchestra. At the time of global depression end of the Weimar Republic, it was a great success. It is rumoured that he had been the head of a secret sectarian cult. Every evening he invited a willing audience into a hidden back room of the establishment, in order to discourage black masses and to beguile his followers with his music. Good Hill was known in occult circles as a master of so-called "heavy music". In their texts, the dark side of the soul, evil in general and Satan, were discussed in particular.

With the CD we hope to be able to encourage our growing fan base to get involved, and in addition to stimulate Promoters interest in hosting events. As a soloist, I have been seen across genres of the gothic revival, Steampunk- and even techno and rock festivals. I'm sure that it would be even greater fun with the Orchestra!
...because we are a fun band! And it would be a shame if we disappeared from the scene, before we've even started, for monetary reasons alone!
We'll go into the studio in the winter to finally record our project on CD. Should the Crowdfunding become successful, we will use the money for post-production, the cost in the press shop and the GEMA. The plan is an edition of 1000 copies. If enough money becomes available, we might also create a promotional video.
