With this amount we can cover a large part of our expenses. Every further support helps us to get closer to the movie we can already see in our minds.
"The Last Time We Broke Up" tells the story of Abby, a young art student who is way behind on one of her university assignments.
Always happy to help is Chloe, an architecture student and a good friend of Abby's who works in the small diner next to the university.
Even though Chloe tries to keep it a secret, it becomes obvious pretty quickly that she has a not-so-little crush on Abby. The two spend a lot of time together, either at the diner after class or at movie nights, together with their mutual friend Spencer.
Actually, nothing would stand in their way - they get along more than just well, have known each other for quite some time and the step from friendship to something more doesn't seem so big...
...if Abby wouldn't still live together with her ex-girlfriend Lex.
The two are officially no longer a couple for over a year, but they still can't get away from each other.
Again and again they get closer, only to hardly speak a word to each other in the next moment.
Abby must now decide:
Does she hold on to the hope of resurrecting her past love, or is she finally ready to make room for something new?
Our primary goal is to make a film that touches the viewers and where you can find yourself in. Probably most of us have already been in a relationship that is actually anything but good for either sides.
But getting away from it is not as easy as it often seems to outsiders.
One reason for this is probably that toxic behavior in relationships is romanticized in many movies and thus gives a false impression of reality.
Here we want to show what unhealthy relationships actually look like without the false glamour they often get.
Also, it is important to us to make an LGBTQ+ film where the sexual orientation of the protagonists is not in the foreground for once, or is the only problem of the film. Instead, we want to show characters who already feel comfortable in their identity and their own orientation is no longer a real issue for them.
So, of course, the film is being made primarily for members of the LGBTQ+ community, who also want stories that start after the coming out and don't end there.
At the same time, of course, we hope that everyone who knows the feeling of still holding on to something that's already in the past can find themselves in this movie and take something away from it for themselves.
You've been waiting for a movie that isn't exclusively about the characters' coming out or some form of homophobia? And now you want to become part of our team?
Perfect, then you've come to the right place, because there's a lot to do:
Writing the script, looking for actresses and bringing them to the location, booking technology, locations, catering, ...
all these are parts of a film production.
Many of them we can do by ourselves and with the help of our fellow students, but unfortunately not everything.
And exactly for this we need your support. We want to produce the best possible film and that costs a lot of money.
If you decide to become part of our project, you will actively help us to bring our story from paper to screen.
And we don't just mean financial support. Of course we are incredibly grateful for any amount of money, but also liking, sharing and telling others about our project helps us to reach a wider audience and convince more people of our idea.
So we already wanna say thank you for your interest in our project. We would be happy if you continue to accompany us on the way of production!
With this money we can tell the story of Abby, Lex and Chloe!
Since all crew and cast members are working for free on this project, 100% of the money will go towards the realization of the film. We will use this money to cover travel expenses, catering and technical costs, but also accommodation, filming permits, insurance, props and costumes will be paid by the money.
We, Stefanie and Sofia, are currently studying film at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt and are graduating with the project "The last time we broke up".
During our studies we noticed how well we complement each other as a team and and so we have already implemented several projects together. Among other things, scenic short films or music videos, some of which we have already successfully presented at various film festivals.
